Tokio Hotel lead singer Bill Kaulitz and his twin brother Tom recently talked about what music served as great influences to them growing up. Bill said that when he was young, he loved listening to Nena but has since grown out of it and now loves to listen to Stereophonics and Kings of Leon. Tom said that he was a big Aerosmith fan back in the day and is still a big fan today. As for their hopes for success, Tom said that he hopes that America is ready for their band and that they can even feel it. I think everyone really just needed to prepare to have to look at Bill but we already got over it once Adam Lambert was all over the place.
Tom and Bill Kaulitz from the German band Tokio Hotel are featured on the cover of the February 2010 issue of GQ Germany which hit stands yesterday. The 20-year old twin musicians shared how much of a connection they have with each other with Bill saying “We’re like one person with four ears”. Another publication also recently got to talk to Bill and asked what his worst habit is. The singer said “I am a bit of a control freak. That is my most obvious negative trait, but at the same time it’s also one of my best traits. It goes both ways.”
Tokio Hotel took home the award for Best Group earlier this month at MTV’s European Music Awards where they also gave an electrifying performance of “World Behind My Wall.” This guitar-charged ballad is their new, official focus track in the US and follows “Automatic” as the second single off of Humanoid. Listen to “World Behind My Wall” here.
It’s a busy week for the band as their song “Human Connect To Human” is now featured in the brand new Verizon Droid commercial. Check out the sci-fi themed spot to see Tokio Hotel’s very fitting integration into the campaign.
Head over to Tokio Hotel’s Myspace for an exclusive listen of their album Humanoid. The first single, “Automatic” is a metallic anthem with layered, buzzing guitars, stomping percussion, and a falsetto chorus made to be belted out by a stadium full of people while “World Behind My Wall” redefines the power ballad with depth, introspection, musical confidence and an irresistible sing-along chorus. The band tracked songs in Hamburg, Miami, and L.A. “Bill drove us all crazy, constantly coming in with things, even though the old songs weren’t finished yet,” says Tom, who’s fond of frequently ribbing his brother. “Apart from that, we just didn’t limit ourselves, and we used new instruments.”
The album does not hit stores until tomorrow, but the band is streaming all 12 tracks from the standard version until midnight. Like what you hear? Preorder the sci-fi themed release on iTunes now.
Sneak a peek into the life of Tokio Hotel recording their new album Humanoid. Bill shows off his vocal recording room and discusses his extremely loud recording technique. “Most people use regular ‘headphone volume,’ but I can’t stand it. I need to feel like I’m onstage and I’m standing beside the other guys,” says the front man. The high-tech vocal mixer used on the tracks is what brought the band to Los Angeles to record. The clip also shows guitarist Tom Kaulitz playing the piano – a skill that most fans didn’t know he had. Visit MTV’s Buzzworthy blog for the rest of the story, and look out for the release of Humanoid on October 6th.

Tokio Hotel band member Tom Kaulitz might be in some legal trouble as he apparently hit a female fan in the face. The lead singer’s twin brother reportedly hit the fan while at a gas station in Germany last week. It all started when the 19-year old guitarist was filling up his car in Hamburg. A 21-year old female fan and her friends recognized him and knocked on his car window for an autograph. Instead of politely denying her request, he just lowered his window and threw a lit cigarette at the girl. The girl picked it up and stubbed it out on his car. That sent Tom into a rage, coming out of the car and allegedly hitting her in the face and drove off before police could arrive. Maybe Tom and Chris Brown are friends.
Tokio Hotel are featured on the Yahoo Music homepage, in the latest installment of “Pepsi Smash: Another Side Of”. Watch as the band members candidly describe their experiences in the US during a heated game of Jenga in their LA hotel room!

The drummer from the band Tokio Hotel recently crashed his car into a Tram. On Tuesday afternoon, Gustav Schafer crashed his BMW 3-Series into a tram in Madgeburg, Germany. According to reports he “overtook a line of traffic and drove straight over tram tracks which had been blocked off. His car was then hit by an oncoming tram, skidded into the right lane of traffic and hit two further cars.” The musician and his two passengers were taken to the hospital by an ambulance. Thankfully, and miraculously, they only suffered minor injuries. Unfortunately for the drummer, he’s going to be charged with bodily harm due to negligence.
Ahead of the MTV Video Music Awards, their supporters discuss the question with vigor, as to which band is actually the more incredible. There is talk of Tokio Hotel, the most successful German rock band, and the Jonas Brothers, currently America’s greatest pop band. At this year’s VMA awards on September 7th in L.A., they came together in the category “Best Pop Video”, further stoking up the discussion from supporters of both bands. And the question on everybody’s lips – does this translate to competition between the two bands themselves? The truth is there is nothing of the sort, quite the opposite. Tokio Hotel (who won the MTV VMA category “Best New Artist”) and Jonas Brothers have one thing in common: while Tokio Hotel are currently superstars in Europe who are successfully capturing great attention and fans across the United States, the superstars from America, Jonas Brothers, have planned to conquer Europe.
Recently named best new artist of 2008 at the MTV VMAs, Tokio Hotel is back in the US and kicking off their fall tour October 24th in Orlando. Check out their promo video for the tour and find out if they are coming to a city near you!

It seems that Chris Brown is a little distraught about his career lately. The singer has taken to an on-line voice-messaging site called SayNow to complain about how radio stations aren’t playing his songs anymore. This is what Chris Brown’s message reveals: “A lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records. They are not being [...] […]
It seems the first contestants to go home are from among the girls of American Idol. And America has decided that it should be Katelyn Epperly and Lily Scott. Katelyn Epperly didn’t give much of a farewell speech, but apparently limited herself to saying the usual: “It was definitely a great experience, and I’ve learned [...] […]
I knew that the results would be bad when Ryan Seacrest started off the show by saying we could be in for a surprise or two. Before the American Idol top 12 were revealed, we were treated with the top 16 singing Michael Buble’s ‘Just Haven’t Met You Yet’. It looked like a reunion of [...] […]

Wayne is looking to tap a number of celebrities for their follow up to 2008’s ‘Christmas on [...] […]
Taylor Momsen recently opened up to Parade magazine on how she has trouble “fitting in”, how she has no interest in being a role model, being a celebrity and her music. I’m starting to get irritated with the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress turned singer for trying hard to be edgy when everyone knows she’s just a [...] […]
Even though he was pretty near to getting the privilege to go home, Tim Urban was saved to sing another day and more than made up for it last night. He chose a pretty hard song to cover, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, but he did it with flying colors and that got the admiration of [...] […]

The American Idol contestant who seems to have a thing for songs of ages past might have overstayed her welcome this week. Lily Scott’s song choice for last night, Patsy Cline’s “Fall to pieces”, seems to have impressed the judges well enough, but perhaps not the public as well. Ellen DeGeneres commended Lily Scott [...] […]
