Simon Cowell’s forecasts woman to win his last Idol

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Star judge Simon Cowell has tipped a female will win his last season of American Idol.

Cowell, 50, made the forecast as his engagement to Mezghan Hussainy slowly turned from fiction to fact this week and ahead of his own sudden departure from the show.

Exactly a dozen women are among the ninth season’s 24 semi-finalists with a good shot at the Fox singing contest.

Cowell said: “We’ve had a few years of guys winning the show, and I would say there is definitely a better chance of a girl winning the show this year, certainly, than last year.”

Last year, Cowell fulfilled the prediction for the UK with what could be seen as the greatest discovery in talent show history emerging in the face of Susan Boyle – on Britain’s Got Talent. With plans to take the X-Factor on the road to Vegas, Cowell was not stopping with SuBo. “I’d love to find a Taylor Swift,” he said.

Simon Cowell’s Charity Single on Its Way

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Simon Cowell and The Sun are working on a charity single to benefit Haiti relief and the stars are coming out of the woodwork to make sure that it has promise. Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Jon Bon Jovi have reportedly signed on to cover REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ joining the already announced Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Rod Stewart. The recording began this past weekend with Cheryl Cole, Brit band JLS, but others are still expected to get into the studio like Take That, Michael Buble, Westlife, Alexandra Burke, James Morrison, Mika and James Blunt. Simon said “It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti. This is something that really matters to us all, and I’m so grateful for the support we are getting.”

Chris Brown Projected to Bomb

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

According to reports, Chris Brown is on track to sell around 95,000 to 10,000 copies of his new album ‘Graffiti’ in his first week. That’s not too bad, except when you consider that his last album sold three times as many – nearly 300,000 in its first week. Talk about getting burned! But even bigger news is that Susan Boyle is expected to push 600,000 albums in her third week. Wow! It looks like the R&B singer is going to be taken down by the YouTube sensation. Though considering all the media scrutiny that Chris has been under, it wouldn’t be hard for anyone to take him down.

Allison Iraheta Bombs

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Allison Iraheta, who placed fourth in the last season of American Idol, might want to start checking out a couple of colleges and other venues of life because the music business might not be for her after all. According to reports, the singer’s debut album ‘Just Like You’ brought in piss poor numbers, only managing to sell about 25,000 to 30,000 in its first week of sales. It was totally expected but it’s a burn nonetheless. They can chalk it up to being up against heavy hitters like Lady Gaga, Susan Boyle and fellow Idol alum Adam Lambert but then again, if you can’t handle the competition, that usually means that you aren’t any.

Susan Boyle is making musical history

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Well, well, it seems those breakdowns weren’t all of nothing… or completely unfounded. “Britain’s Got Talent” alumni Susan Boyle has apparently shot to success in the US faster than anyone could have predicted and her debut album is selling like hotcakes. Simon Cowell is probably sitting in a dark corner right now grinning like an evil genius and plotting his next move… apart from the documentary he’s going to release about Susan Boyle’s rise to fame. Hopefully, it will only be a rise and no falls involved, those breakdowns are a bad sign for Susan Boyle’s career, especially if she gains more fame than she already has.

Susan Boyle to perform on US Dancing With The Stars

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

British singing sensation Susan Boyle is reportedly set to dazzle American audiences by taking centre stage on Dancing With The Stars.

The Scottish runner-up of Britain’s Got Talent is flying to Los Angeles to give a one-off performance, according to People.com.

It comes two months after the 48-year-old singer first appeared on US TV, during an episode of America’s Got Talent.

In her upcoming performance, she is expected to perform material from her soon-to-be-released CD I Dreamed A Dream.

“She’s excited and happy,” said her brother John Boyle. “She loves America and loves the people. She appreciates their honesty.”

X Factor Makes Changes

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

The reality competitive television atmosphere has proven that it can take its toll on your sanity when Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle spent more days in the hospital recovering from fame than she did on the tour. With this new understanding that fame isn’t for everyone, the producers over at X Factor have decided to give qualifying contestants psychological tests to ensure that they can handle the stress. There will also be counsellors on standby to help contestants as the competition progresses. It’s a great idea. I’m only mildly disappointed that there will be a lacking in craziness this year.

Susan Boyle Will Go on Tour

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Susan Boyle is feeling good and looking good after recently being released from the clinic and given a clean bill of health after suffering some exhaustion and anxiety from Britain’s Got Talent. After a short stint at home with her family and her beloved cat, the singer will be flying to London to begin work on some demos with Simon Cowell and prepare for the tour with the rest of the competition finalists. Is she ready for the stress again? Simon says that he understands her fragile nature and insists that there are no strings attached to her deal. He says that he will cancel the deal if Susan would rather return to her old life. The YouTube sensation then said “I’d hate to let my fans down. They put me in this amazing position and I owe it to them as a mark of thanks.” I’m rooting for her.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell doesn’t want Susan Boyle to “become a gimmick”

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Susan, 48, shocked the world with her performance of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables on the British talent show and has become an instant star.

But one of the show’s three judges, Simon, 49, said: “The problem is with all the sub-stories about the cat and how she looks. I’m tired of hearing about the way she looks or the kissing, or this or that. Susan mustn’t become a gimmick.”

Susan is the favourite to win the show already and there have even been rumours of a film being made of her story.

Simon added to British newspaper The People: “Choose the right song, focus yourself, shut your front door, maybe take a holiday and come back to the person you want to be and not as the person you think you should be.”
