Shakira is featured in AOL’s Spinner site, which has recently published its Artists and Songs of the Decade lists. The 32-year old singer’s song ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ has been named the 42nd best song of the decade while Shakira herself is the 24th best artist. Spinner said “With a name like Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, it’s no wonder this Colombian dynamo answers to her first name only. After crossing over into the English-speaking market in a very big way, she has earned the right to one-name superstardom.” That she does. Congratulations to Shakira for the recognition that she so deserves!
Shakira’s new album ‘She Wolf’ has already been pushed back more than once and now her label has just announced that it will be released on November 23rd and will contain her newest Timbaland-produced single called ‘Give it Up to Me’, featuring rapper Lil Wayne. That’s such a bad move as the Latina singer will now be going up against Lady Gaga’s ‘Fame Monster’, Rihanna’s ‘Rated R’, Adam Lambert’s ‘For Your Entertainment’ and Britney Spears’ ‘The Singles Collection’. Shakira certainly won’t take the top spot up against all of that strong competition. What was her label thinking? This really smells like sabotage to me.
Shakira does not require any introduction as she is a global megastar of heroic proportions but at the night of 2008 American Latino Media Arts Awards, she was heard celebrating her Latina heritage.
The show was hosted by Eva Longoria, the famous “Desperate Housewives” girl.
Shakira was not there just as a guest but she also received the Humanitarian Award for her charity work.
She was looking fabulous in her wardrobe with a magnificent sleeveless black belted dress, with studded platform high-heels.
The 2008 ALMA Awards were held to honor the achievements of the Latin Americans in the media.

Shakira already knows how to put out a hit record – but now she’s tackling an even bigger subject: the history of western civilization. Isn’t this piece of news something so different from what we all have being listening, viewing, reading for so many days now. News of the MTV VMAs where singers just boozed, parties, broke relations, fought with each other, gave bad performances bla bla bla. With so much happening isn’t it so cool of Shakira to sit down and learn something that’s worthy of a mention. While everyone else has been at the beach, the MTV Awards and the Emmys, Shakira’s been studying History of Western Civilization all summer at UCLA. I think this is absolutely cool thing that she has enrolled herself into, instead of wasting time and energy of wasteful matter she’s decide that there is time for better things in life and she is utilizing that time for something good, babes you rock!
The Latin hip-shaker was spotted hanging out with the Queen of the Brats and Wasted Posers Avril Lavigne at Hollywood hotspot Les Deux this past Friday night.
That friendship can only lead to bad things. This was a huge disappointment. But Shakira more than made up for it come Saturday.
Instead of spending time with someone puke-inducing, she spent time with a more ladylike Penelope Cruz. The two hit club Parc together on Saturday night.
