Mel B has once again confirmed the news that there’s going to be some sort of Spice Girls reunion some time soon. The singer said “We are definitely going to be doing something together again soon. We’re actually working on it right now. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but it’s really, really exciting. I can’t wait to be singing with the girls again.” If you’ve been following these reports about the girl band reuniting again, you would notice that Victoria Beckham has been out of the picture. Oh well, it’s not like her vocals were ever showcased anyway.
The singer has recently stated that he is not so sure that Robbie Williams, who is supposedly awaiting
Gary Barlow’s call will rejoin Take That in the near future. Gary Barlow said the following when he heard that Robbie Williams was waiting on a call from him: “I’ve heard Robbie say that 50 times. We keep answering the same way – we’d all love to do something, but Rob’s in the studio making an album and we’re on tour in the summer. It will happen, I just don’t know when.” I guess Gary Barlow knows what he’s talking about… moreover, he also probably knows Robbie Williams well enough to know what to expect. Alien season is probably not over yet… until that time comes, Robbie Williams’ head definitely won’t be in the right place for a Take That reunion.
No Doubt has released a new promo picture on their official website which also has a scrolling instant messenger chat conversation between all of its band members, Gwen Stefani, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young. It seems that they are all itching to play in front of crowds. Gwen said “I think we should go out now, I don’t think we should wait. Pack up the babies and get a bunch of nannies. So fun! Would be so spiriting to get out there and play all those songs again. I think that if we go on route, it will inspire us to write. I need to see the fans out there.” Tony responded to that with “I’m down to play. We need to play. It’s been too long… ND 2009… I’ll call management. It’s time to play.”
New Kids On The Block’s new track, “Single,” featuring Ne-Yo is available now on iTunes as is the pre-order for The Block which hits stores September 2nd and features the mellow jam “Summertime” as well as collaborations with some of the biggest names in pop music. In addition to “Single” with R&B superstar Ne-Yo, other collaborations include “Grown Man” (with The Pussycat Dolls and uber-producer Teddy Riley), “Put It on My Tab” (with the ubiquitous Akon), “Big Girl Now” (with NY dance-pop diva Lady GaGa) and the much-buzzed about “Full Service” (with fellow supergroup New Edition).
NKOTB will support The Block with a sold-out tour that started on September 18th in Toronto and continues through the end of November. NKOTB are also gearing up for an exclusive 90-minute live event, “New Kids on the Block: A Behind The Music Special Event” premiering on VH1. In a first-of-its-kind production, the special will celebrate the history of the New Kids On The Block while also documenting what inspired their 2008 reunion in their own words. Interspersed throughout the special will be live reports from Boston, counting down until VH1 airs a live broadcast of the first three songs from the world renowned group’s sold out concert at the TD Banknorth Garden in their hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.
With just seven weeks till D-day, Boyzone are pulling out all the stops to make sure they outdo The Spice Girls and Take That in the battle of the comebacks.
As well as working out like maniacs in the gym, I’ve heard whispers the boys have all vowed to sing live and have scaled heights to get eight burlesque dancers to sex up the show.
A source close to the band told me: “They are all well aware of how well The Spice Girls and Take That did and are doing anything and everything they can in a bid to make to sure they are the comeback kings. Ronan is the most obsessed. He saw The Spice Girls in concert three times to try and get ideas.
“They’ve held audition for super hot female dancers in a bid to outsex the ones that Take That danced with on stage. I’ve heard they will be writhing around in their underwear.
“They’re also worried about singing live. They came from an era when nobody used to sing on tour so they got away with it. Think of S Club and Steps. But now it’s all changed.”
The former Irish caners have also ditched the Guiness and turned into also turned into calorie counting health nuts in a bid for bodily perfection.
The source added: “In the old days the boys were a load of p*ss heads. But now they have given up the beer in an attempt to look as good as they can possibly look.”
A lot of talk has been going on about the reunion of the New Kids on the Block. But before you go back to your teenybopper years, one of the former band members says that it’s not going to happen.
Danny Wood just sent a bulletin to all his MySpace friends saying “Hello to everyone. Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the New Year. I wanted to address the rumors of the NKOTB Reunion Tour. There has been no talk of this and you are getting it from source directly. Never say never, and you can’t believe everything you read.”
If their performance at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show was anything to go by, the Spice Girls concert wouldn’t be any good. But the thing is, that performance isn’t anything compared to the actual show because the show is really good!
Besides making LA fans go crazy by singing all their hits on Wednesday, Baby, Scary, Ginger and Sporty each belted out solo numbers. Mel C did ‘I Turn to You’, Scary made her own rendition of ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ and Ginger did ‘It’s Raining Men’. I forget what Baby sang but it brought the house down along with the other 3 nonetheless.
What did Posh do? Instead of belting out her own solo number, she opted to prance down the runway to a mix of Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ and RuPaul’s ‘Supermodel’.
Another Spice Girls blog is up with Geri Halliwell penning it. In her blog, she admits that with all the rehearsals going on for the Spice Girls’ world tour, she feels like she’s stuck in some sort of ‘Spice Bubble’.
“I actually feel like I’m in the Spice bubble… we are encapsulated in this world where we are just immersed in each other’s lives constantly. Just before the run through of the show this morning, Mel B, Victoria and I even went to the loo together… in separate cubicles, obviously!”
She also talked about the Spice Kids having play dates and surprising Mel B in the live final of Dancing With the Stars.
And it will include Michael. That’s right 70’s hit band – The Jacksons, who last toured in 1984, are planning a reunion for one last tour. And Jermaine Jackson insists that star brother, Michael, will definitely be involved. Apparently he has attended all meetings and discussions and plans are set to reunite sometime in 2008.
The original plan was for the reunion tour to be in 2005, but the controversy behind Michael’s child abuse trial put all plans on hold. Now that he has been cleared of all charges plans can move ahead.
My problem with this is two things. One: if you put Michael in the middle of the other five; Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Jermaine and Randy…is he really going to look like pat of the family? And two: The Jacksons were children in essence back in the 70s and 80s when they had hits with “I want you back” and “ABC”. Surely the adult voices will not do the songs the same justice? Only time will tell I guess…I await with baited breath.
We’ve heard from the two Mels otherwise known as Sporty and Scary Spice, now it’s time to hear from Emma otherwise known as Baby Spice. Emma is the latest Spice Girl to blog on their official website.
In her entry, she talked about finally being in LA, how her son Beau was and the mad rush of paparazzi that greeted her when she arrived. She also talked about her excitement over the rehearsals and the tour itself. She even gushed about the merchandise they were going to put out which even includes some baby bits that she wants to get for Beau.
It seems that the Spice Girls are determined to make their reunion bombastic in all ways possible, though I think what they are trying to achieve here is almost the making of a Mission Impossible-4 like thing, they have been of the seen for nearly 7 years now and the way new singers have crowded the calendar they would have the going tough. The latest addition to the comeback process is a brand new shimmering cover of the band’s greatest hit album. Similar to the cover of their debut album Spice, the new cover has letters carved out of precious jewels a million Pounds. In the work by top jewelry designer David Morris, each letter symbolizes one of the Spice Girls, as they did it in their debut cover. Well it’s clear that they want to try and repeat history and achieve the same super success one last time. Their nothing bad in trying and one should try hard to achieve success. I only think that they should do a reality check that once time goes by it never comes back, times have changed and they do not fit in today.
The wait is over. For those of you who were actually excited at the prospect of a Spice Girls reunion should be anxious to know what cities the girls have chosen. Only fourteen locations will be selected to participate in the tour. Some countries were questioning if they would even receive a concert date but the girls have done well in diversifying their choices.
A few listed locations are Vancouver, Madrid and Sydney. The USA seems to score the most with at least four of the fourteen performances. It still fails to become obvious to me why they decided a world tour like this would be beneficial. Considering that more fans are shut out than included, I doubt it’s anything more than a quick injection for their bank accounts. I mean really, who reunites just long enough to make some money and then quit again? It’s so obviously just about the money. It’s incredibly rude to expect people who have worked hard for their money to hand it over. Unfortunately that won’t stop them from doing so.
Since the news of their reunion concert, one million people have gone to the official Spice Girls website to register for tickets for their reunion tour with very limited dates. If that wasn’t enough for the rest of the world to see that there are still some die hard Spice Girls fans out there, there’s more.
A group of well-organized fans have opened a MySpace page with details about the movement ‘Stop to the Top’. It’s an internet movement which aims to get the only Spice Girls single that never made it to number 1 to the top stop via internet downloading. ‘Stop’ stalled at number 2 before dropping gradually.
The campaign seems to be working though. The song has already made it to the Top 100 in iTunes.
The Spice Girls may be getting back together. Maybe.
But the ladies famously known to be Posh, Ginger and Baby have made the rumors of a reunion more and more likely especially after being spotted together in London on Wednesday to catch up and perhaps to talk business.
There’s still a lot of uncertainty though. Mel C, more known as Sporty, went on an interview earlier on the week and was asked about a possible Spice reunion. She was honest about her views and although she seemed hesitant, she said she was open to the idea.
The final member Mel B, more known as Scary or Eddie Murphy’s supposed baby momma, is slated to be on the next Dancing with the Stars. So a reunion may or may not take place after that.
Whatever you decide ladies, I’m sure it will be better than the stuff you’ve gotten into lately.

Taylor Momsen recently opened up to Parade magazine on how she has trouble “fitting in”, how she has no interest in being a role model, being a celebrity and her music. The American Idol contestant who seems to have a thing for songs of ages past might have overstayed her welcome this week. Lily Scott’s song choice for last night, Patsy Cline’s “Fall to pieces”, seems to have impressed the judges well enough, but perhaps not the public as well. Ellen DeGeneres commended Lily Scott [...] […]
