Pink Opens Up About New Single So What

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

P!nk has never been afraid to speak her mind, bare her soul, and share her deepest feelings in her songs. As she casually confers, “I have no choice. It’s what I do.” Indeed, it is what P!nk does. And, her 23 million in album sales, two Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and eight top 10 hit singles are proof that the tattooed badass with the heart of a pussycat does what she does well. But, with her fifth studio album, Funhouse (Oct. 28 via LaFace/Zomba), P!nk gets even more personal, more exposed, and more revealing.
On her current radio smash “So What,” P!nk gets real once again but this time it’s infused with her trademark humor as evidenced by such funny-honest lyrics as “I guess I just lost my husband/I don’t know where he went/So I’m gonna drink my money/I’m not gonna pay his rent.” Having her ex, Carey Hart, in the Dave Meyers-directed video diffused some of the reaction to the lyrical content. “At first I was kind of irked because everyone was like, ‘Well, wait. I thought the split was amicable and now she’s talking shit about him?! What the @#$%’ It’s hypocritical.’ But once everyone saw the video and saw that Carey was in it, it shut everybody up, which was lovely,” explains P!nk, who collaborated with Max Martin once again for this track. “Carey hadn’t heard the song before he did the video. That’s how much he trusts and loves me. He pretty much just rolls his eyes, throws his hands up in the air, and hugs me. He gets it. He gets me. It’s nice.”

Vanessa Hudgens Gets Reviewed

Vanessa Hudgens has received the first review of her sophomore album ‘Identified’, which comes out on July 1, from Entertainment Weekly. Vanessa said of the album that “[The album] is definitely sophisticated. But it’s also funky and fun–something that I would, like, actually listen to.” I’m not sure who really reviews the album here. Of the three tracks EW listed, most of the reviews of the songs came pretty much from Vanessa herself. The songs they heard were her first single off the album ‘Sneakernight’, the Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Pink) produced sassy anthem ‘First Bad Habit’ and the stripped-down ballad ‘Gone with the Wind’.

Pink + Metal Skool + Skid Row = Perfect

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Pink has been out of the limelight for a little bit but that doesn’t mean she’s quitting her job.

The colorful singer who sported what I would guess is her natural blonde color made a surprise appearance at the Key Club in West Hollywood on Monday night to join the cover band Metal Skool in singing Skid Row’s ’18 to Life’.

Pink + Metal Skool + Skid Row = Perfect

All the time away from the stage didn’t deter the singer though because everyone at the club would be with me in saying that she absolutely rocked it.

And if her appearance wasn’t enough, the performance featured another surprise cameo. And it was quite surprising, if not, a bit weird. Juliette Lewis came up to jam with Pink and Metal Skool on the performance as well.
