The British singer and winner of the famous X Factor show has apparently stuck gold yet again when Clive Davis, a music mogul that can apparently boast with being Whitney Houston’s mentor, said he would help her launch her career in the US. A source related the following on the matter: “Alexandra was celebrating her number one record with friends and family. She got a huge shock when Clive appeared and said he thinks she’s the future of pop music.” The long arm of Simon Cowell apparently extends at a great length indeed… but it all seems to be in Alexandra Burke’s benefit. Well, the US always is a good market for the Pop/R&B scene… you’d think they would’ve run out of CD’s by now.
Nadine Coyle and fellow Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole are simultaneously working on their solo musical careers. However, Nadine is said to be taking it to a whole other level. The singer has created a huge buzz as three top record labels are said to be in a bidding war to sign her. A source said “It looks like Universal – a subdivision of the Girls Aloud label Fascination – will produce Nadine’s solo shot. But whoever wins her will have to pay a lot because everyone’s desperate to sign her. She will get an amazing deal as a result of shopping around.”
I have already tried to block out the fact that Brooke Hogan is a reality celebrity daughter and also a so-called recording artist but it doesn’t seem to work because she just keeps going at you and reminds you of it every time. What she records may not actually make her a certified artist but it worked well enough that someone actually decided to give her another chance. On July 21, Brooke will release her 2nd album ‘The Redemption’. The press release for her album read “On ‘The Redemption’, fans will take notice as Brooke solidifies herself not only as a pop singer but as a songwriter with style. The album is a pop wonderland with up-beat, sexy dance rhythms and hip-hop influences, all overlaid with Brooke’s signature voice.” She wishes.
Britney Spears just posted the artwork for her latest single ‘If U Seek Amy’ on her official website. The song is the third single to be released from the recovered pop singer’s sixth studio album ‘Circus’. The track was co-written and produced by Max Martin, who also wrote several of Britney’s previous hits, including ‘…Baby One More Time’ and ‘Oops! I Did it Again’. Earlier this month, Britney also shot the music video for this song. I can’t wait to see the video. I wonder if it will be received with as much controversy as the single. I hope not though.
Kelly Clarkson has released the artwork for her new single ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’. It looks like it’s been edited a whole lot but I still think it looks hot. And it’s a start contrast to the publicity images of her last album ‘My December’. From dark and brooding to blonde, red and shiny. I think she’s embracing the pop whole heartedly this time around. Thank the heavens for that! I sure hope that the original American Idol will make a great comeback. Apart from the temporary moment of insanity of hers known as ‘My December’, she’s really a great singer.

Feist is going to be taking a breather or two or three or four when she’s done with her current tour. The Canadian singer isn’t retiring just yet. She says she just wants to collect herself after the success of her last album ‘The Reminder’. The singer told the Canadian Press “[My career] has become kind of large and it really began for me very, very small. Like me alone in my bedroom with my four-track and a pair of headphones. I just need to go back there for a while to get my bearings again and then know what to do next. I just need to let it rest for a minute.” Feist’s Canadian tour comes to an end in November.
Yes! I am not kidding or joking. I swear by God that I have seen the pop queen Britney Spears serving on the tables in a restaurant.
Do you still think that I may be sleeping at that time?
But NO, I am damn confident that I was awake and I saw her with my own eyes.
Well! In fact it was the latest music video of the “Crazy” singer.
The title of the song is “Womanizer” and it is quite similar to her other pre-Blackout videos.
Apart from Britney, who played a waitress and an erotic dancer, the other dancers also sported waiter uniforms which consisted of white shirts, skinny ties and black pants/ leggings.
“Womanizer,” is the first single by the pop star in her upcoming album “Circus”.
Ashley Tisdale was spotted as she headed into the Warner Bros. Studio in Los Angeles on Wednesday. She was there for a meeting to discuss her second album. In other Ashley news, ‘Picture This’, a made for TV movie starring her was released on DVD this week following its airing on the ABC Family channel. The DVD has a couple of extra treats including Making of ‘Picture This’ and Making a Concert: Behind the Scenes of ‘Shadows of the Night’ Performance. Why do I get the feeling that no matter what she does, she will never outgrow her ‘High School Musical’ role and just become stuck in an acting career rut unless her album does good?
Vanessa Hudgen’s new CD ‘Identified’ dropped in stores this week and it debuted to disappointing numbers. Disappointing is actually an understatement. The album is more of a disaster if you ask me. It looks like America hates her. Even when she was a relative unknown, her last CD debuted with 34,000 units sold. Now that she’s a pretty big star, her sophomore album only sold 22,000 copies. That has got to hurt. I bet that her embarrassingly bad first single ‘Sneakernight’ didn’t help any. The only thing that could help her now is an amazing opening for ‘High School Musical 3’ and maybe signing up for a ‘High School Musical 4’.
The New Kids on the Block recorded a song last week with a fellow 80s boy band, New Edition. The thing is the most infamous member, Bobby Brown, was cut out of the picture. The track called ‘Full Service’ will be on NKOTB’s as yet untitled upcoming album. Producer RedOne says “Donnie Wahlberg had this idea for a few months, since New Kids had the idea of getting back together really. Donnie’s been looking for that one track for all of them and I think we found it.” New Edition’s Ralph Tresvant recently spoke about the bands’ rumored feud saying “The thing people were going back and forth with was we’d been doing what we were doing for the longest [but] we couldn’t get cartoons and things that the white guys were getting. It was like, ‘wow’. But the guys themselves, we have mad love.”
Heidi Montag has a really great PR team working for her. Producer RedOne, who worked on her new single ‘Fashion, recently had an interview where he basically kissed the ground Heidi walked on. He spoke of Heidi’s new single saying “”It sounds amazing. The song is all about fashion and all about her – shopping, clothes, her whole aura. She’s really taken it to the next level…. We are working on more [songs], and it’s crazy, shocking stuff that will surprise everybody.” When asked if Heidi can sing, he said “Definitely. She’s really good, and I love her personality and the way it comes through in a song. She makes you believe it. She’s great in the studio.” Would you believe that?
Janet Jackson was recently asked what the next single off her new album will be. She replied with “That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point. We started off with ‘Feedback’ and the label and myself haven’t quite seen eye to eye since the ‘Feedback’ single so they’ve kind of basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album.” Does this mean we’re going to have to forget all about her?
The cover art for Miley Cyrus sophomore album ‘Breakout’ has been revealed. The ‘Hannah Montana’ star’s new CD will be dropping in stores everywhere on Tuesday, July 22. The album’s first single, ‘7 Things’ debuted on Radio Disney earlier this month. So what do you think of the album cover? If you ask me, I think it’s still a little on the phallic side. But at least she’s not showing of her bare back and teasing people that she may have nothing on under a sheet. Seriously, the girl needs to start acting her age if she doesn’t want people thinking bad things about her.
Miley Cyrus has debuted her latest single ‘7 Things’ on Tuesday morning on the syndicated radio show Elvis Duran and the Morning Zoo. The single comes off Miley’s new album which will hit stores on July 22. The song describes the pain of a recent breakup by listing 7 things that she “hates” about her ex. “You’re vain, your games, you’re insecure/You love me, you like her/You make me laugh you make me cry.” She then sings about 7 things she likes. “Your hair, your eyes, your old Levi’s/And when we kiss, I’m hypnotized/You make me laugh, you make me cry.” I’m still not sure what to think of it. It sounds too much like it could be an Avril Lavigne song and I hate Avril!
Scarlett Johansson has recently premiered her first music video ‘Falling Down’ which comes off of her debut solo album ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head’. The cover song, which also features David Bowie on vocals, was originally from Tom Waits’ album ‘Big Time’. It’s a good song but when it comes to the video, forget it. It’s pretty bad with its lame theme of ‘a day in the life of Scarlett’ and with the very shaky camera. It just gave me a headache really. Anyway, Scarlett’s album is set for release through Acto/Rhino Records on May 20. Here’s to hoping that the rest of her album doesn’t give me the headaches.
Madonna’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ dropped in stores on Tuesday and while her first week sales are still being predicted, the Queen of Pop has already conquered a key area in the new music business machine commonly known as digital sales. Madonna’s first single off the new album ‘4 Minutes (To Save the World) has become the second ever single to have digital sales over one million units in five weeks. Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ was the first. As of Tuesday, the digital sales for her single were at 1,004,482 units. Mariah must be really pissed at that considering she barely broke the top 10 on digital sales.
Rihanna has released a new music video for her single ‘Take a Bow’. The song is the lead single from the re-release of her platinum-selling album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’. What, can’t she think of anything else to sing so she has to redo her old album? I’m not complaining though. She just made the songs hotter and does a collaboration with Maroon 5. Anyway, I think Rihanna has a future at being an actress. There’s a whole lot of emotion in her new video which is really about catching her guy cheating. Chris Brown better not even dare think about doing that to the new Princess of Pop.
The album cover for Clay Aiken’s new album ‘On My Way Here’ has just been released. His new studio effort will hit stores on May 6 but that’s not going to stop the singer from performing all new songs on Monday, April 28 at 7PM on QVC. The American Idol alum commented on his album unveiling saying “Starting my career on national, live television, it seems fitting to be unveiling my new album live on QVC. To be able to connect with QVC’s viewers and broadcast my performance to over 93 million households is an amazing opportunity.” Whatever floats your boat.
I said, in not so many words, that Madonna was going to win over Mariah Carey in their unofficial diva battle. An industry expert explains why that is so. Mariah always gets to go first, with her song being on radio for more than a month while Madonna’s has only been on for a week. Mariah’s album also comes out before Madonna’s. Mariah’s song dropped on iTunes a day before Madonna’s. All that really means is that Mariah will have a strong first week and go down while Madonna’s will gain airplay and get stronger as Mariah drops. In short, Madonna still wins in the end.
It probably doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that Tim Urban’s performance from Tuesday night landed him the bottom three on American Idol… and he probably would’ve gone home had it not been for the reinstatement of the judges’ save ability. Yes! Tim Urban was the first to receive Simon Cowell and the [...] […]
