Jordin Sparks Holds Off On Sex

Friday, August 31st, 2007

American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has pledged to wait to have sex until she’s married. The pretty teenager, who became the youngest Idol winner in May, reveals she promised her parents she’d keep her virginity until her wedding night when she was just 13. I wish her luck, I had the same intentions. Obviously, I was tricked, sweet talked e.t.c. Honestly, I think it’s a very naive thing to do. You can’t possibly know if you’ll connect with someone on that level without a test run. And God forbid she winds up with a guy who is also a virgin. Or what if she’s stuck with someone who either doesn’t know what he’s doing or isn’t willing to take her needs into consideration. But what ever she should try and stick to her ‘best laid plans’ for as long as possible. The day she finds someone who she thinks is attractive and has some brains (note girls do look for a man who has a feminine side to him and has brains too) she should take him.

Staunch Sister; Scissor Sisters

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters has been spotted around San Francisco in the past two weeks as she takes some time off after the massive world tour for promotion of their last album.

Last Saturdsay, the buxom singer was seen at Cold Steel on Haight Street and got the inside of her lower lip tattooed with the word ‘Staunch’. First off, ouch. Second, what the hell is staunch?

Sources close to Miss Matronic say that ‘staunch’ is actually a reference to the cult classic documentary ‘Grey Gardens’. Obviously, it’s one of her favorite things.

But I still say ouch.

Spice Girls dazzling 1 million Pound album cover

Friday, August 24th, 2007

It seems that the Spice Girls are determined to make their reunion bombastic in all ways possible, though I think what they are trying to achieve here is almost the making of a Mission Impossible-4 like thing, they have been of the seen for nearly 7 years now and the way new singers have crowded the calendar they would have the going tough. The latest addition to the comeback process is a brand new shimmering cover of the band’s greatest hit album. Similar to the cover of their debut album Spice, the new cover has letters carved out of precious jewels a million Pounds. In the work by top jewelry designer David Morris, each letter symbolizes one of the Spice Girls, as they did it in their debut cover. Well it’s clear that they want to try and repeat history and achieve the same super success one last time. Their nothing bad in trying and one should try hard to achieve success. I only think that they should do a reality check that once time goes by it never comes back, times have changed and they do not fit in today.

Heidi’s Body Language

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

Another reality star thinks that just coz her show got big, she can get big too. ‘The Hills’ star Heidi Montag premiered her single ‘Body Language’ on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Thursday morning. Fans called in giving great reviews and even KIIS FM co-host Ellen K had herself calling Heidi the next Britney. The catch? Heidi’s fiancé Spencer Pratt raps on the single. Eww.

But guess what? The release was a mistake. An insider reveals that the record company leaked the track. As Spencer told People magazine, it’s not the single and that it was done as a joke. Actually Spencer, it’s just you that’s the joke.

50 Cent ‘erupts’ over leaked video

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

It has been reported that 50 Cent “erupted” during a meeting at his record label Interscope, after a forthcoming single and video–a collaboration with Robin Thicke–inadvertently leaked on to the Internet.

Reported by MTV News, the track “Follow My Lead” was due to be released as the third single from the rapper’s forthcoming album Curtis, and after current videos for “I Get Money” and “Ayo Technology” had dropped from rotation.

According to MTV’s sources, when 50 heard about the leak he reportedly ripped a plasma TV from the wall and threw his mobile phone through a window.

50-cent.jpg

He later talked about his frustrations during an interview with DJ Kay Slay on New York’s Hot 97 radio station.

He said: “The process has been ill for me this go-around. I usually have to start a project myself, as far as Interscope. I got to lead. On the first album, ‘Wanksta’ just took off before ‘In Da Club’ came about. When we got to The Massacre, I leaked ‘Disco Inferno’ and they caught up with ‘Candy Shop.’

“This album, I threw ‘Straight To The Bank’ out there, and ‘Amusement Park’ was the joint they were supposed to assist me with going after. But when that came, it grew at the same pace that ‘Straight To The Bank’ grew. And I was like, ‘Yo, it don’t feel like it’s a difference in the support for the actual record.’”

Clips from “Follow My Lead” have since been removed from YouTube, but have already been posted elsewhere.

Amy Winehouse cancels month of shows

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

When Amy Winehouse said, “no, no, no” to rehab, she meant it. Taking better care of herself is a different matter, though. The 23-year-old British soul singer has decided to cancel her scheduled August concerts for health reasons, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

“Amy Winehouse is putting all her touring commitments for this month on hold until further notice in order to address her health issues,” Tracey Miller said in a statement. “Amy will now not be performing at this weekend’s V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Her family has requested that the media respect Amy’s privacy at this time. There will be no further comment.”

Winehouse was hospitalized last week for “severe exhaustion.” She is scheduled to begin a North American tour in September

Gwen Stefani Can’t Wait to Get Pregnant Again

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Calling herself “a geeky Orange County girl, a chola girl, a rasta girl and an English girl – all mixed together,” Gwen Stefani has no mixed feelings about one thing: producing a sibling for her 1-year-old son Kingston.

“Obviously I’m in a race to have another, but I don’t want to do it while on tour,” the singer, 37, tells .”But I can’t wait to get pregnant again. It’s so fun and consuming and romantic.”

Being a mom already, she admits, means “I definitely don’t get enough sleep, but I’d rather spend time with him. I’ve got this extra-fun, amazing, little guy who just wants to hang out with me.”

gwen-stefani1.jpg

Before she hits the stage while on tour, Stefani sings Kingston lullabies like “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” as he falls asleep. “But he sings a lot to himself,” she says. “He’s just getting into music. He does the whole head-bouncing thing.”

Kingston’s being musical should come as little surprise. His dad is Stefani’s husband, rocker Gavin Rossdale. “I love him so much,” Stefani says of Kingston. “He’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

Rossdale, she also says, is “super into being a dad.” On his domestic prowess, Stefani says of her husband, “He’s a creative cook. He makes whatever I crave, even when nothing seems to be left in the fridge.”

And while Stefani may be in a rush to get pregnant again, there’s another aspect to life she wishes to put the brakes on: raunch.

“Everyone’s in such a rush to show they’re sexy,” she says. “Anyone can be sexy. We all have the same body parts. It’s pretty boring. Life’s not so short that you need to give it all away in five seconds. That was never my thing.”

Prince fans warned of ‘no-show’

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Tickets to the “official after show” have been priced at £75 and £25

Prince fans are being warned he and his band may not appear at the “after show” events promoted as part of his UK tour.
Parties at the Indigo2 venue follow his concerts at London’s O2 arena, but fans say sometimes he fails to go to these, or has played for only a few minutes.

Prince’s website now says that when there are arena gigs on consecutive days, “the band usually opts to rest” instead of appearing at Indigo2.

A spokeswoman for Prince said it was “never guaranteed” he would appear.

“What’s always been up on the official website was that Prince’s band would play most nights, and on any given night the Purple One could come.

The arena’s stage is the symbol to which Prince changed his name (photo by Andrew Buchan)
“But every night was going to be different and special,” she told the BBC News website.

“For instance, the other night, his opening act Beverley Knight took to the stage for a long, late-night jam session with Prince on the guitar, which was a very special surprise for the crowd.”

Many fans who booked tickets to the concerts in the main arena received promotional e-mails from agency Ticketmaster, highlighting the addition of the “after show” events to the tour schedule.

The agency’s website promoted the “after show” as “the white hot place to hang for those still in need of some serious grooves”.

Tickets were priced at £75 and £25, whereas the main arena show was £31.21 per seat, the figure being a reference to recent Prince album 3121.

Prince’s spokeswoman said Knight’s set was “a very special surprise”

Ticketmaster also stated: “Please be aware that Prince and the band are not guaranteed to perform, but as we all know with these cats - expect the unexpected.”

Wino in the Hospital

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

blog4-amy-winehouse.jpg

News flash! Amy Winehouse was rushed to the hospital yesterday morning after some sort of incident. Reps for the tattooed singer confirmed that she was taken to a London hospital and treated for ‘exhaustion’. She has since been discharged and is now at home with orders of taking ‘complete rest’.

When asked about what brought the health scare on, the rep could only say ‘it came about quickly’ and that the grueling tour schedule is most likely to blame. For now, all her shows have been canceled.

Exhaustion? It came about quickly? It’s what I would call a cover up for alcohol poisoning. Yes?

Lucky Natalie Imbruglia

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

blog2-silverchair.jpg

Natalie Imbruglia has got to be one of the luckiest women on the planet. And that’s not just because she’s a successful singer but more because she’s married to the likes of Daniel Johns. When the heck did he get this hot?!

For those not in the know, Daniel Johns is the lead singer of the band Silverchair. He gave concertgoers one heck of a treat when he ripped off his shirt at Lollapalooza in Chicago this past Saturday and showed off the buff bod, sexy chest hair, tattoos and pierced nipples that Natalie sleeps next to.

Last I remember Daniel he was a pretty skinny dude with hair that resembled that of the younger Hansons. Not so hot.

Gwen Stefani to cover up for malaysia show

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

gwen-stefani1.jpg

There will be no revealing costumes at U.S. singer Gwen Stefani’s concert in Malaysia this month, a newspaper said on Saturday, after a Muslim student group demanded that the event be cancelled as being too obscene.

Although Malaysia is a moderate Muslim country with sizeable non-Muslim minorities, conservative groups often frown upon departures from strict Koranic injunctions.

Malaysian mobile phone firm Maxis Communications, which is promoting the August 21 show as part of Stefani’s “Sweet Escape” tour, promised it would feature no revealing costumes, the Star newspaper said.

“She will abide by the Malaysian authorities’ guidelines to ensure that her show will not be offensive to local sensibilities,” it quoted a Maxis statement as saying.

Malaysia’s official guide for performers says women must be covered from the top of the bosom to the knees, the Star said.

Jumping, shouting and the throwing of objects are barred, while performers may not hug, kiss or wear clothes with obscene or drug-related pictures or slogans, it added.

On Tuesday, an official of the 10,000-strong National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students said Stefani’s video promotion clips were obscene and the event would clash with local Asian and Islamic values.

“We want the organizers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene,” said Mohamad Hilmi Ramli, the group’s president.

Ethnic Malays, who are by definition Muslims, make up just over half of Malaysia’s 26 million people, while ethnic Chinese and Indians, who are mostly Buddhists, Christians or Hindus, account for most of the rest.

More Idols on the Scene

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

blog2-american-idol.jpg

Just because you were voted out early doesn’t mean American Idol contestants don’t stand a chance in the music scene. We all have William Hung to prove that. But it seems that more cast offs are finding their way into the music scene. Sabrina Sloan and Sundance Head have been signed by Universal Records Motown. The two are set to record a whole album of cover songs.

Prepare yourselves for some yummy yet cheesy renditions of duets of way back when. But either way, at least they can actually sing. I would have easily traded these two, and ten thousand of their clones, back into the show just so one Sanjaya can be booted off.

Spice Girls Announce Chosen Cities for Concert

Monday, July 30th, 2007

The wait is over. For those of you who were actually excited at the prospect of a Spice Girls reunion should be anxious to know what cities the girls have chosen. Only fourteen locations will be selected to participate in the tour. Some countries were questioning if they would even receive a concert date but the girls have done well in diversifying their choices.

spice-girls.jpg

A few listed locations are Vancouver, Madrid and Sydney. The USA seems to score the most with at least four of the fourteen performances. It still fails to become obvious to me why they decided a world tour like this would be beneficial. Considering that more fans are shut out than included, I doubt it’s anything more than a quick injection for their bank accounts. I mean really, who reunites just long enough to make some money and then quit again? It’s so obviously just about the money. It’s incredibly rude to expect people who have worked hard for their money to hand it over. Unfortunately that won’t stop them from doing so.

Hamburg to get Beatles monument

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

beatl_beatles.jpg

A monument dedicated to The Beatles is to be erected in the German city of Hamburg, where the band launched their international career. Radio station Oldie 95 said work on the £310,000 monument will begin this year. The steel structure will represent John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and early Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe, who died in Hamburg in 1962. It will be built on a corner of the St Pauli district near clubs where the band played. The beatles are among the worls’s all time best music selling act and even today there is a music album or song that has not been released and is there in the market is selling for millions of dollars. They were truly the people’s choice and we love them till date. I am sure in time to come the place shall become one the epicenters for other musicians to perform and a platform for upcoming talent.

Top Stop

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

blog9-spice-girls.jpg

Since the news of their reunion concert, one million people have gone to the official Spice Girls website to register for tickets for their reunion tour with very limited dates. If that wasn’t enough for the rest of the world to see that there are still some die hard Spice Girls fans out there, there’s more.

A group of well-organized fans have opened a MySpace page with details about the movement ‘Stop to the Top’. It’s an internet movement which aims to get the only Spice Girls single that never made it to number 1 to the top stop via internet downloading. ‘Stop’ stalled at number 2 before dropping gradually.

The campaign seems to be working though. The song has already made it to the Top 100 in iTunes.

Fergalicious Candies

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

blog3-fergie.jpg

Music industry insiders all know that record sales are declining so it’s not news if an artist finds novel ways to make money out of the music. An insider even told the press the trick of the trade in which the artist needs to make the brand part of the song so that it slips down the throats of fans easily.

Fergie is cashing in on that trick and her appeal to the teenage girls of the world. The singer is reportedly set to make $4 million by teaming up with Candies clothing and accessory line on her next album. The brand name will be dropped in her songs and she will work with them on ad campaigns. She’s already started that by featuring several Candies clothing on her video for ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’.

It’s not really a matter of selling out. It’s a matter of business.

No Doubt in the House

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

no-doubt2.jpg

Surprise!

When Gwen Stefani shouted that to her hometown crowd at the Verizon Ampitheather in Orange County on Friday, she definitely did not disappoint.

As an encore performance of her solo concert, the big screen flashed a huge ‘No Doubt’ sign as she was joined onstage by her band mates. The crowd predictably went wild.

The audience at Irvine may have been the luckiest out of everyone as they heard and saw the band perform for the first time since Gwen went solo. They performed three songs – Just A Girl, Spiderwebs and It’s My Life.

The band has been hitting the recording studio for a new record. Watch for that next year.

Aerosmith Demands Chicken

Aerosmith Demands Chicken

At a recent festival in London Aerosmith handed out a list of crazy demands. One that stood out as especially nuts was the demand for three roast chickens for each band member. Apparently they insisted they had to have two for before the show and one for after. Who really eats that much chicken in a night? It certainly can’t be good for you. Another demand they had which was a bit outrageous was that they wanted Run DMC flown in from the United States just to sing on one song with them. Booking a flight from America to Europe for one five minute song seems more than extremely unnecessary to me. How many times before have they played the song Walk This Way without Run DMC? Plenty! When Mariah Carey wants people to pick certain M & M colors out of her candy dish it’s totally ridiculous. But when a handful of old men demand three chickens in a specified order it makes me ask myself why they would want to join her ranks and be known as selfish divas?

Beastie Boys Gigs

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

As you can imagine the Beastie Boys never go out of fashion and as always they will have some summer live shows. The interesting fact is that it will all alternate with some instrumental sets and traditional hip-hop shows because of their new album “The Mix-Up”.
The Beastie Boys tour will start on the first of August in Philadelphia and will end in August 25 in Berkley. There is still no official date set for any of the instrumental performances planned. Mike D recently told Billboard:

“’We’ve got plenty more work ahead of us. ‘We kind of have a pretty broad list [of songs] to pick and choose from.”

The Beastie Boys will still be touring internationally in July and have shows planed in UK and Ireland at the beginning of September. So far these are the known dates and locations:

August 1 - Philadelphia, PA at Festival Pier
August 4 - Baltimore, MD at Virgin Festival
August 6 - Boston, MA at Bank of America Pavilion
August 8 - New York, NY at Central Park SummerStage
August 9 - Brooklyn, NY at McCarren Park Pool
August 16 - Morrison, CO at Red Rocks
August 23 - Santa Barbara, CA at County Bowl
August 25 - Berkeley, CA at Greek Theatre

Spice World II

The Spice Girls may be getting back together. Maybe.

But the ladies famously known to be Posh, Ginger and Baby have made the rumors of a reunion more and more likely especially after being spotted together in London on Wednesday to catch up and perhaps to talk business.

There’s still a lot of uncertainty though. Mel C, more known as Sporty, went on an interview earlier on the week and was asked about a possible Spice reunion. She was honest about her views and although she seemed hesitant, she said she was open to the idea.

The final member Mel B, more known as Scary or Eddie Murphy’s supposed baby momma, is slated to be on the next Dancing with the Stars. So a reunion may or may not take place after that.

Whatever you decide ladies, I’m sure it will be better than the stuff you’ve gotten into lately.

The Police – Greatest Hits

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

049-the-police.jpg
The Police is also the name of a double-disc CD that is set to be released on June 11 by A&M Records. It will feature 30 tracks, the greatest hits signed The Police and also marks 30 years since the band released their first single in 1977 (“Fall Out”).
Police members Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland topped the charts in both radio and television during the late seventies and early eighties. They actually have 5 number 1 albums and have also released many top 10 singles in a quick succession. The Police received two Brits and 6 Grammy awards and it will be possible to see them back on stage. The band announced plans to reunite for a tour in Europe and USA. It starts in Vancouver, three days from now and will end on September 4th. Tickets are already sold out to some events and hopefully fans will enjoy the performances.

New Deftones Material

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

045-deftones.jpg
The latest album signed Deftones, “Saturday Night Wrist” is still enjoying a lot of success in the United States. It is a good time to prepare something new and this exactly what is happening as you read these lines. Chino Moreno, front man of the band, stated for Billboard that they are writing new songs in a backroom at the events. He said:

“We’re going in there and playing as five of us in the room with just our instruments, no other distractions. That’s how we started out, basically, when we first started the band — us in the garage, no ProTools or anything to get us ahead of ourselves. We’d just play things over and over again, until we remembered it — that’s the rawest way you can do it, and the best, I think.”

In case you did not know, Chino is also involved in another band, Team Sleep. He will be releasing new material with them as well somewhere at the beginning of 2008.
