Sade Rules

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I absolutely love that the nation is falling back in love with Sade. The soft rock singer and the rest of her band sold 190,000 copies of their first album in 10 years ‘Soldier of Love’ this past week, securing them the top spot on the Billboard charts for the second week in a row. Congratulations Sade! I wonder if they can make it a three week run. They deserve all the success. And maybe the success would actually make them want to stick around longer instead of do their disappearing act again and not be seen for another 10 years.

Frankie Sandford is happy to be a hot boddy

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

The singer from The Saturdays has apparently taken the first place on Top 100 Bodies in ZOO magazine from actress Megan Fox. Frankie Sandford was of course pretty glad about this development as she herself states: “Wow, to win the ‘Hottest Body In The World’ award is truly amazing. Thank you, I am truly flattered and would like to thank ZOO, and more importantly all the readers who voted. I really appreciate it!” Right so a magazine called ZOO has a top 100 bodies contest? Frankie Sandford might be a bit premature in being happy about winning that award. It is clear now how Megan Fox won last year, though.

Boyzone Singer Dies at 33

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Stephen Gately, the 33-year old singer of Irish boy band Boyzone, died last Saturday on the Spanish island of Majorca, where he was vacationing with his husband Andrew Cowles. According to UK’s News of the World, “the gay singer’s coming out ten years ago caused a sensation in the pop music world. .. He married [Cowles] in a civil union in March 2006. His manager Louis Walsh was unaware of Stephen’s sexuality when he selected him for the band and has said that, had he known, he would have thought twice before picking him, citing that ‘It wasn’t cool then to have a gay guy in a band.’” Rest in peace Stephen.

The New Edition of Kids

Friday, July 4th, 2008

nkotb-new-edition.jpg

The New Kids on the Block recorded a song last week with a fellow 80s boy band, New Edition. The thing is the most infamous member, Bobby Brown, was cut out of the picture. The track called ‘Full Service’ will be on NKOTB’s as yet untitled upcoming album. Producer RedOne says “Donnie Wahlberg had this idea for a few months, since New Kids had the idea of getting back together really. Donnie’s been looking for that one track for all of them and I think we found it.” New Edition’s Ralph Tresvant recently spoke about the bands’ rumored feud saying “The thing people were going back and forth with was we’d been doing what we were doing for the longest [but] we couldn’t get cartoons and things that the white guys were getting. It was like, ‘wow’. But the guys themselves, we have mad love.”

Chris Martin Injured

Friday, June 13th, 2008

chris-martin.jpg

Coldplay’s comeback show has been thrown into jeopardy after Chris Martin injured himself in rehearsals. The 31-year-old singer twisted his knee awkwardly during practice sessions ahead of the band’s date at London’s Brixton Academy on Monday, and is in excruciating pain.

A source said: “Chris has been in absolute agony with his knee. He’s had to strap it up and has been hobbling around the place. He doesn’t want to cancel the show so he is going to fight through the pain barrier.”

If the concert goes ahead it will showcase Coldplay’s much-anticipated fourth album ‘Viva La Vida, Or Death And All His Friends’, which was released yesterday.

Chris’ injury is not the band’s only setback. They have also been forced to postpone the start of their North American tour due to “production delays”. The run of shows was due to begin in Philadelphia on June 29 but will now start in Los Angeles on July 14.

A statement on their official website read: “The band have experienced some production delays which mean that the show simply won’t be ready for June 29. It’s very frustrating but they promise you a show worthy of your patience and understanding when they start in mid-July.”

New Jonas Brothers Video

Monday, May 26th, 2008

jonas-brothers.jpg

The Jonas Brothers were spotted as they filmed the music video for their single ‘Kung Fu Grip’ on Thursday in San Pedro, California. 20-year old Kevin, 18-year old Joe and 15-year old Nick were seen dressed in a number of outfits for the video including karate uniforms and headbands. Nick was also seen dressed in a red wet suit while riding a speedboat. His scene had him jump out of the boat and fire a net gun at 2 other guys. Well that sounds interesting. However, some people are saying that the video might not be for ‘Kung Fu Grip’ but rather for ‘Burning Up’.
