It has been No. 1 at Alternative radio for three weeks and is the band’s ninth No. 1 single at the format, making them the artist with the second most No. 1’s of all-time at Alternative.

Taylor Swift is on a roll when it comes to releasing music videos as she has just released the video for her new single ‘You Belong with Me’. The song is the third single from her sophomore album ‘Fearless’. The video features the dance team from Henderson High School, the school from which the country singing cutie graduated. It also features Lucas Till from ‘Hannah Montana the Movie’ which Taylor also appeared in. It was just last week that Taylor also released the video for ‘The Best Day’, her early mother’s day gift to her mom. That was so sweet!
A mere two years ago, Esmée Denters was just a pancake house waitress with a webcam and a dream. An aspiring singer who fell in love with her father’s Stevie Wonder albums as a child, Esmée was 17 when she began posting videos of herself on YouTube singing her favorite hits by Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, P!ink, and Natasha Bedingfield.”I had seen all these videos of amateur singers, which gave me the idea,” she says. “I was just interested in what other people thought of my voice.” Within nine months, Esmée’s videos had racked up 21 million views, and she became the number one most-subscribed musician in the history of the popular video-sharing website.
Esmée’s clips soon caught the attention of Justin Timberlake – one of her musical idols – who was drawn to her silky, soulful voice, natural charisma and songwriting talent. He then signed her to his label Tenman Records, an imprint of Interscope, and began executive producing and co-producing the majority of her debut album. They lined up an impressive list of noted songwriters and producers to collaborate on the project including Polow Da Don (Usher, Ciara), Stargate (Rihanna, Ne-Yo), OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield), and Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie). The result is an edgy, soulful pop-R&B set that Esmée says truly reflects who she is as a person.
Relatability was something that was important to Esmée on her debut outing, which is why she was thrilled for the opportunity to co-write the majority of the songs. Her first single, “Outta Here,” sends a message of female empowerment through a hybrid of urban beats, pop lyrics and rock attitude. Sneak a peek into the studio to learn more about the Dutch beauty when she recorded the track with Justin Timberlake and Polow Da Don.
SafetySuit is back with a new video for their single “Stay.” The Nashville-based, pop/rock outfit teamed up with director Zach Merck (Hinder, Blue October) for an intense video following a story of love, action and betrayal. The clip was just added in rotation on VH1 where the band has been selected as a “You Oughta Know” artist.
Heidi Montag is grinning ear to ear these days not only because of her marriage to Spencer Pratt in Pasadena, California but because her groom has given her a stunning Neil Lane jewelry supposedly worth $250,000. The set of earrings, necklaces and bracelets were supposed to be on-loan but Spencer Pratt has bought them as a gift to his wife.
Heidi Montag wore a Monique Lhuillier white strapless gown when they exchanged vows at the Westminster Presbyterian Church last Saturday. While there are doubts about the legality and the authenticity of the wedding considering the commitment ceremony staged by Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt in Cabo San Lucas Mexico in November sources said this one’s for real and not just for the sake of “The Hills” ratings. However, there are still doubts about the reality of the reality TV stars’ wedding since the whole “The Hills” ensemble was in attendance during the wedding.
Ashley Tisdale has just premiered the video for her single “It’s Alright, It’s OK!” The Scott Speer (The Veronicas, Jordin Sparks) directed video features 90210’s Adam Gregory as Ashley’s ex-boyfriend. “It’s Alright, It’s OK” will appear on the forthcoming Guilty Pleasure due out on June 16th. Watch Ashley rock out and trash her ex’s house with a huge party here!
In preparation for her May release of A Fine Mess, Kate Voegele tried on some new looks for a photo shoot in Downtown, Los Angeles. Check out the behind the scenes look here to find out more about the new album including where the album title came from. Listen up for a new song called “Manhattan From The Sky.”
Check out Steve Rushton’s just released video for “Emergency” from the upcoming Race To Witch Mountain movie. Steve also has two original songs on the Hannah Montana: The Movie Soundtrack due out 3/24, and in addition, appears in the film alongside Miley Cyrus.
Steve is currently in the studio with John Fields (Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato) working on his debut album on Hollywood Records.
The singer had this to say about the Buddhist belief: It’s my only truth that never changes. I believe in karma. I believe that it comes around in both ways. I’ve watched really good people have really hard times and then all of a sudden something beautiful happens. I’ve seen instant karma and I’ve seen karma that I think takes lifetimes, and I’ve felt a lot of it.” Well of course karma is real, that’s why so many people suffer in poverty and all these celebrities who contribute to society in such an indispensable way make 80 million dollars a year. What karma could be predicted for them: catching the plague in the next ten years? But I guess that’s the good stuff to come for the poor people. You know, to put them out of their misery.
With the world reeling under an economic and financial crisis singer Pink has taken upon herself that she would do her bit for a greener world knowing ticket sales for her shows would suffer as well. So what is she actually up to – gardening!
And it seems she’s really into it, on her promo video for her new single ‘So What’ she can be seeing tending to veggies and herbs in her very own garden and its said that she refuses any sort of help.
She said: “I have an organic vegetable garden with four raised beds. I grow cucumbers, tomatoes, melons, jalapeno peppers, spinach, kale and chillies. I also grow sunflowers, marigolds and herbs like basil and marjoram.”
Goodness gracious me, that’s really the first time I have ever heard some punk waste singer do some good stuff for Mother Nature. She does it all on her own sans any support staff and when some jerk ass said that her hobby was completely uncool her responsive was an ignorant smile. That’s the way Pink, need more like you but not like the way to dress sometimes.
The British singer got thrown out of school for a week because of a fight she had with some fans of Gareth Gates. Apparently she has very strong emotions for Will Young, the singer who came in first in the British show “Pop Idol”, thus taking the prize from Gareth Gates. Adele probably allowed her emotions to get a bit out of hand and now she has to go a week without school. Probably not too much of a punishment, but one must wonder what is wrong with these obsessions over some people. You’d think that humankind had attained a certain degree of civilization where we would be able to make our opinions heard and noted without having to swing a club over the other guy’s head… you’d think so, but you’d be wrong.
The Veronicas attended Australia’s ARIA Awards recently with one of the twins sporting a new hair do. They like to remind us frequently that they’re different and are unique. Apparently, Jess has decided to show just how different she is from Lisa by dying her hair a new hair color. And as they say, blonds have more fun. I think regardless of her hair color, we always know she has a lot of fun. Do I even need to mention those video leaks of hers? She’s like the Aussie version of Miley Cyrus when it comes to leaks. The only difference is Jess is more likeable.
For those of you that aren’t in the know, Ricky Martin’s old band has been revived and re-stocked with new pretty young things and there’s a bad boy among them. One of the new guys, 18-year old Carlos Olivero, was escorted off of a Delta flight in Atlanta after refusing to put away his iPod. An insider says “A flight attendant accused Carlos of having an attitude after she asked him to turn off his iPod in preparation for takeoff. Carlos complied and turned his iPod off, but the flight attendant then demanded he stow it. Carlos showed her again that the iPod was turned off, but he refused to stow it.” The flight crew has control over you when you’re on a plane. It’s best you do what they say.
It has recently been announced that Janet Jackson is selling out by starring in an MTV reality show. The untitled project which has already started casting will feature Janet as she mentors a group of aspiring singers and dancers. The project will be filmed in the coming months as she prepares for her world tour. One of the show’s producers says “It’s really about finding who’s the next Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake or Usher. And we’ll find it from a pool of people who you wouldn’t typically find it from. We’ll go to YMCAs, church groups, local community centers and try to cast the show.”
Alternative music is down but country music is up. AHITS Daily Double says so by citing the attendance of music lovers for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (which drew 30,000 fewer people this year as compared to last year) and Stagecoach Country Music Festival (which drew double its audience from last year). But then again, if you compare Coachella lineups of this year and years’ past, it was really weak. Coachella is also on its 9th year while Stagecoach is only on its 2nd. Interest in the actual festivals may be a factor too and not just the love of the music itself.
Robbie Williams is having a rare old time on strike from the gruelling slog of being a pop star. The beardy pop nob, in a teenage-style huff with his record label, has been filling his time with private cooking lessons.
A pal said: “He has an urge to host his own cookery show and bring out a book with it. The problem is, Robbie isn’t exactly the healthiest eater on the planet. Who needs lessons in how to cook burgers and chips?
The ‘You’re Beautiful’ singer, famed for his womanising ways, is looking for ‘The One’ and admits finding a wife would make him happier than fame and fortune.
He said: “I am often asked when I’m going to get married. I’m searching for the answers to those sorts of questions. There are greater things in life than being rich and famous. I never set out to be rich and famous, I set out to be happy. I’m on a search for happiness. I am happy now, in certain ways I’m having an amazing time, but there are other things that I am still looking for.”
Since finding pop superstardom, Blunt has been linked to a string of female stars. Among the 34-year-old musician’s alleged conquests are Paris Hilton, model Petra Nemcova and British socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson
For those of you who were absolutely baffled as to how Mariah Carey became such a huge success in Brazil, I have the reason for you. The curvaceous singer’s cover of Foreigner’s ‘I Want to Know What Love is’ has been on the Brazilian music charts for 20 consecutive weeks at the top spot and [...] […]
It seems that Chris Brown is a little distraught about his career lately. The singer has taken to an on-line voice-messaging site called SayNow to complain about how radio stations aren’t playing his songs anymore. This is what Chris Brown’s message reveals: “A lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records. They are not being [...] […]
It seems the first contestants to go home are from among the girls of American Idol. And America has decided that it should be Katelyn Epperly and Lily Scott. Katelyn Epperly didn’t give much of a farewell speech, but apparently limited herself to saying the usual: “It was definitely a great experience, and I’ve learned [...] […]
I knew that the results would be bad when Ryan Seacrest started off the show by saying we could be in for a surprise or two. Before the American Idol top 12 were revealed, we were treated with the top 16 singing Michael Buble’s ‘Just Haven’t Met You Yet’. It looked like a reunion of [...] […]
Wayne Coyne, the lead singer for The Flaming Lips, is trying to get Justin Timberlake to star in the band’s new movie. Justin played the bass guitar with the band during Top of the Pops back in 2003. Wayne is looking to tap a number of celebrities for their follow up to 2008’s ‘Christmas on [...] […]
Taylor Momsen recently opened up to Parade magazine on how she has trouble “fitting in”, how she has no interest in being a role model, being a celebrity and her music. I’m starting to get irritated with the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress turned singer for trying hard to be edgy when everyone knows she’s just a [...] […]
Even though he was pretty near to getting the privilege to go home, Tim Urban was saved to sing another day and more than made up for it last night. He chose a pretty hard song to cover, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, but he did it with flying colors and that got the admiration of [...] […]
Lady Gaga is busy taking over the world with her Monster Ball Tour and putting the finishing touches on her music video for ‘Telephone’ with Beyonce but a rep at her label has revealed that there are talks about a 3D concert and DVD in the near future for the princess of pop. Is this [...] […]
Former Hollywood couple Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake will be seen in bed together in scenes for their new movie, Bad Teacher. The pair dated for four years before splitting in 2007 and Timberlake, 29, is now dating actress Jessica Biel. Timberlake was recently announced as the actor playing Diaz’s love interest in the flick. Diaz, 37, plays [...] […]
The American Idol contestant who seems to have a thing for songs of ages past might have overstayed her welcome this week. Lily Scott’s song choice for last night, Patsy Cline’s “Fall to pieces”, seems to have impressed the judges well enough, but perhaps not the public as well. Ellen DeGeneres commended Lily Scott [...] […]
