Miley Cyrus thanks screenwriter for getting her together with co-star Liam Hemsworth

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Miley Cyrus has thanked the screenwriter of new movie The Last Song for helping her get together with co-star Liam Hemsworth.

The 17-year-old is dating Aussie actor Hemsworth after meeting on the set of the movie and she said it was the screenplay, which was written by the book’s author Nicholas Sparks, that brought them together.

She said: “I owe Nicholas big time.”

Cyrus added that she helped Sparks to write a part for her: “I like music and hot Australians. I was trying to make him write that in.”

The Hannah Montana beauty admitted that she fell for Hemsworth the moment he came in for an audition.

She said: “He opened the door for me, and I was like: ‘He’s got the part.’ And they were like: ‘Let’s read with him first.’”

Justin Timberlake and The Flaming Lips

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Wayne Coyne, the lead singer for The Flaming Lips, is trying to get Justin Timberlake to star in the band’s new movie. Justin played the bass guitar with the band during Top of the Pops back in 2003. Wayne is looking to tap a number of celebrities for their follow up to 2008’s ‘Christmas on Mars’. He said “I’m in the process of begging [Timberlake]. If I’m lucky I’ll be able to wear him down in another year. [I want] celebrities to show up and have fun with us for a couple of nights… My only goal was that I didn’t have to build space station-looking sets every time I wanted to have someone say something. This one is set in someone’s house, a backyard and a slaughterhouse; all those are available to me right here.”

Leighton Meester’s Music Career on Hold

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Although her music career never really took off to begin with, actress turned singer Leighton Meester will be putting her music on the backburner while shooting the indie film ‘The Oranges’ which starts production in NYC in April. The movie, which also stars Hugh Laurie and Catherine Keener, centers around a man’s romantic relationship with the daughter of a family friend. By the time she decides to really start up her music career, everyone would have already forgotten that she’s actually a singer. I’m disappointed really. While I haven’t really gotten that much into what she’s put out, I actually had high hopes for her.

Taylor Swift is Wanted by Vampires

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Ryan Kwanten recently revealed that he would like to see Taylor Swift guest star on HBO’s hit ‘True Blood’. The actor said “That’d be kind of cool. I get the feeling that she likes to break down boundaries. She set a bunch of records, so why not get into the acting world and see if she can’t tackle that, too.” I think we’ll have to see how the country singer fares in her upcoming movie ‘Valentine’s Day’. If she sucks on that one, I doubt HBO would want to bring her in for their hit series. I’m just telling it like it is.

LeAnn Rimes has been the topic of controversy lately which involves her Lifetime movie co-star Eddie Cibrian and his wife Brandi Glanville. The country singer recently said “You know what, I’m a classy woman, I’m never ever going to battle anything out in the press. I have respect for everyone that is involved and everyone’s family, including my own. I would never want to hurt my husband or anyone else with more lies dragged out in the press. It is what it is. I can’t control other people but I can control what I say and what I don’t. I refuse to get down on any one else’s level and I’m going to take the high road on everything.” Since when was having an affair deemed classy?

Rihanna plays in Storm

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Rihanna is certainly known for her music abilities but is she ready to show off her acting chops? Sure, she had a cameo on the direct to DVD film ‘Bring it On 3’ but she just played herself for about 5 minutes. With ‘Gossip Girl’ creator Josh Schwartz about to create a younger version with its newest ‘X-Men’ installment, MTV believes that the 20-year old Barbadian beauty could follow in Halle Berry’s footsteps and be the next Storm. Rihanna is definitely that far off from Halle in terms of beauty and sexiness.

‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year’ = Best Picture?

Monday, November 24th, 2008

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Those hardworking kids at Oh No They Didn’t! have compiled a bunch of For Your Consideration ad posters that will be published in the hallowed Hollywood magazine Daily Variety.
Those posters are well meaning suggestions to next year’s Oscar nominations for various categories to members of the Motion Picture Academy. This year’s batch of For Your Consideration ads are pretty standard. Most films where either huge hits at the Box Office, with the critics or both, like WALL•E and Batman: The Dark Knight. But there is one in particular poster that gave me the ‘chills’.
WHAT THE HELL IS DISNEY THINKING?
SERIOUSLY?
BEST PICTURE?
ARE THEY NUTS?
OR JUST DESPERATE!?
The folks at Disney CANNOT be serious, right? This
They don’t really think that High School Musical 3: Senior Year is worthy of a Best Picture nomination … RIGHT?

Madonna film becomes Blondie show

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

madonna-016.jpg

A musical version of Madonna’s 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan is set for London’s West End. The stage show will incorporate several hits by New York new wave act Blondie, as well as an original song penned by the band’s lead singer, Debbie Harry. Kelly Price, who recently appeared in the West End production of Guys and Dolls, will play Roberta Glass – played by Rosanna Arquette in the film. The story revolves around Glass, a bored suburban housewife who becomes fascinated with Susan after reading about her in the personal ads of a New York newspaper. The movie was released in 1985 and some 22 years later only a few people would be interested in seeing a stage show of that movie. Williams, who is 24, admitted she had not seen the film before rehearsals because she was “too young” to have caught it in cinemas.

Jennifer Hudson is a Hit

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

jennifer_hudson.jpg

At the recent BET awards Jennifer Hudson was a success. She picked up two awards, one for best actress and the other for best new artist. Since her huge Oscar win the girl has been on her way up in the Hollywood world. Jennifer seems shocked to still be winning awards and high amounts of recognition. I say she deserves it. Give credit where credit is due. She has already proved that she has real talent which is more than most of the young divas in Hollywood can claim. Not only can she belt out a tune as good as the classics but she is also a healthy role model for younger women. She does not feel pressured by the ultra stick skinny look and has said before that she is going to represent the healthy chicks. It’s nice to see someone take a stand and not fold because of image issues. Having the courage to stand up and be proud of yourself sure beats getting wasted and thrown into jail because you really have nothing to offer and too much money to stay home. That may be slightly off topic but the point is that we need more women like Hudson to rekindle what Hollywood used to be about.

Justin Timberlake Got ‘Shrek’ Role Because Studio Boss Had A Crush On Him

Friday, June 29th, 2007

justin-timberlake-jr07.jpg

Dreamworks studio boss Jeffrey Katzenberg cast Justin Timberlake in Shrek The Third because he had a crush on the pop heartthrob, according to star Cameron Diaz. Diaz was still dating Timberlake when they provided the voices of Princess Fiona and Artie respectively in the animated sequel, but they split in January before the film was released. The actress tells British radio station Heart FM, “I did not get him the gig, no. Jeffrey Katzenberg has had a crush on him for a very long time… it was his idea… ask him.” See the music industry and every other form of entertainment is under the cloud of a casting couch. You have to be somebody to get recognized by producers so as to have the big opportunities. Justin’s role was not needed in this Shrek movie and I was disappointed with Shrek 3 anyway…. The characters donkey and puss in boots were seemingly overshadowed by Justin’s character, which was flat and lacked humour or interest! I think Justin should stick to singing rather than animated roles…..

Winehouse To Sing Next 007 Theme

Winehouse To Sing Next 007 Theme

The director of the next Bond flick almost decided now the theme song is going to be sung by Amy Winehouse. The spy series film last released in 2006 was ‘Casino Royale’ staring Daniel Craig for the first time. The next 007 movie might see the tattooed rock diva singing the theme song. The Rehab singer could soon find herself in the esteemed company of the like of legends Dame Shirley, Gladys Knight and Tina Turner after catching the attention of David Arnold, who composed the last three 007 theme songs. Hollywood babes gain instant recognition after landing a role to play ‘the bond girl’ in the movies. Though Amy wouldn’t have to wear a bikini and come out of the sea bathed wet in beauty but she could have to shoot a really sultry video that would appear in promos of the movie. She wouldn’t object to the offer even if she would be asked for something like this as Bond movies has huge appeal all over the world and it could benefit her career as well.
