The pop star has recently been placed at the top of an earnings list in Forbes magazine with rich young people. She topped off Justin Timberlake by making 80 million dollars this year. This is no surprise as she and Jay-Z were also declared Hollywood’s richest couple in a list made up by the same magazine, with earnings of 160 million dollars this year. No wonder there’s so much balance in the economy lately. But of course, who can blame the sums, after all, they do contribute to society in a very essential way, they do deserve compensation.
Robbie Williams has been offered $3 million to play a half-hour concert – but is planning to turn it down. The ‘Angels’ singer has been offered $1 million a minute to headline a music festival in Norway – but he is unsure whether to accept as he has vowed to give up touring.
A friend of the star said: “It would probably be the easiest money he’ll make in his life but it’s touch and go whether he’ll say yes. We’ll have to wait and see.”
The 34-year-old recently posted a message on his personal blog saying he has no wish to return to live shows because his last tour ‘nearly killed’ him. He wrote: “The more time I’m spending away from public life, the more I like it.”
Despite the poor reception to his last album, 2006’s ‘Rudebox’ and his threats to withhold his next album due to a dispute with his record company EMI, Robbie did confirm he will be releasing new material.
He added: “There definitely won’t be a tour anytime soon. I might put the B-sides to the next album out first online. Then put an album out in 2009 which means you won’t be seeing a lot of me on stage.”
From Scary Spice to just plain Scrooge, Mel B pocketed a whopping £10,000 from a Christmas fundraiser in aid of terminally ill kids.
Despite the estimate MILLIONS the Spice Girls are expected to make on their comeback tour, Mel refused to waive her appearance fee for helping the Make a Wish Foundation.
An insider at the store fumed: “All Mel B did was sing a couple of Christmas songs, sign autographs and mingle with the crowd collecting donations in a plastic bucket. And for that she pocketed £10,000 that should have gone to needy kids. Many people felt she should have waived her fee. It’s the least she could have done to help raise cash for the kids.”
Bah humbug. Who thinks Mel should get a lump of coal in her stocking this year?
Britney Spears’ latest album ‘Blackout’ is already on the fourth week of its release and it has literally blacked out. Her album has already dropped to a very disappointing 41st place this week in the US according to the new Soundscan charts.
What’s far more disappointing is that Brit’s album has only sold a total of 466,834 copies. That means that her latest effort will not be selling more than a million copies unless some sort of miracle happens. ‘Blackout’ will be the only Britney CD to date that will not go to platinum.
Well that has to suck for her. But I doubt that she really cares.
Leona Lewis’ debut record ‘Spirit’ officially took the #1 spot in the UK albums’ chart this week and it broke records on the way there. Her album because the UK’s fastest-selling debut of all time selling an amazing 375,872 copies!
Leona was up against the Spice Girls, Led Zeppelin and Celine Dion. She actually beat the #2 Spice Girls by over 300,000 copies. Wow! Leona’s current single ‘Bleeding Love’ is #1 on the singles’ chart for the fourth consecutive week, seeling a total of 563,702 copies.
Leona’s album ‘Spirit’ is now scheduled for release in the US on March 18th.
Whether it’s a sign of the times or just plain capitalist idea, you can take it for what it’s worth. Jennifer Lopez has never been shy to put her name on whatever product. Now, she’s putting her name on a USB stick by releasing her new album ‘Brave’ in one.
The typical plastic USB drive is out for JLo but in comes a classy block of African Mahogany or African Blackwood to encase her singing. The USB stick also comes complete with an autograph. It doesn’t come cheap though because the techie styled showcasing of her album is available for $80.
