Miley Cyrus has warned against the perils of the internet, urging teens to take up sports instead.

The teen star of Hannah Montana, who famously ditched her Twitter account last year in an attention-grabbing video, said texting, Twitter and Facebook “wastes your life”, the Sun reports.

The newspaper ran an article by a psychotherapist writer that takes Cyrus’ warning seriously, noting the social-networking sites and computer games could be making teens depressed.

The writer cites the agitation teens experience when they don’t get an instant reply to a text and a “euphoric high” that accompanies playing a computer game, only to be followed by a crushing low-point.

The author, leading UK psychologist Steve Pope, claims: “I have spent the past year researching mobile phones, the internet and computer games and their effect on the mind.

“And I have one conclusion: they have the same effect on a child’s brain as a line of cocaine – a high, followed by a devastating low.

“We live in an world where instant communication reigns, but it means children have speedier access to the ills of our society than ever before.”

Miley Cyrus has thanked the screenwriter of new movie The Last Song for helping her get together with co-star Liam Hemsworth.

The 17-year-old is dating Aussie actor Hemsworth after meeting on the set of the movie and she said it was the screenplay, which was written by the book’s author Nicholas Sparks, that brought them together.

She said: “I owe Nicholas big time.”

Cyrus added that she helped Sparks to write a part for her: “I like music and hot Australians. I was trying to make him write that in.”

The Hannah Montana beauty admitted that she fell for Hemsworth the moment he came in for an audition.

She said: “He opened the door for me, and I was like: ‘He’s got the part.’ And they were like: ‘Let’s read with him first.’”

Miley Cyrus is featured on the April 2010 issue of Teen Vogue. The 17-year old actress/singer talked about her ‘The Last Song’ co-star and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth and her future in music among other things. Miley spoke about her career saying “The more I make music that doesn’t truly inspire me, the more I feel like I’m blending in with everyone else. So after this next album, I’m taking some time off.” She also spoke of her chemistry with Liam saying “I think we’re both deeper than normal people—what they think and how they feel. He’s very grateful for what he has, but he doesn’t let it go to his head. I’m like that too.”

Don’t expect Selena Gomez to start any drama with Miley Cyrus. On the contrary, the Disney princess is kissing the queen’s butt. During an interview where she talked about her show and career, the conversation drifted to Miley’s departure from ‘Hannah Montana’ and what Selena thought about it. Selena said “I think that she’s growing with the show, and I think it’s such a great platform for her. And she’s lived up to it as wonderfully as she could, and I think she continues to carry it, but she’s ready for other things.” And maybe once Miley leaves, Selena would become the queen.

Simon Cowell and The Sun are working on a charity single to benefit Haiti relief and the stars are coming out of the woodwork to make sure that it has promise. Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Jon Bon Jovi have reportedly signed on to cover REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ joining the already announced Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Rod Stewart. The recording began this past weekend with Cheryl Cole, Brit band JLS, but others are still expected to get into the studio like Take That, Michael Buble, Westlife, Alexandra Burke, James Morrison, Mika and James Blunt. Simon said “It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti. This is something that really matters to us all, and I’m so grateful for the support we are getting.”

It seems Miley Cyrus’ old ticket to stardom just took its last breath. “Hannah Montana” will no longer get the best of both worlds, just the cold, silent turned back of oblivion. It seems the show is down to its fourth and final season and this is the last chance Miley Cyrus is going to get to have fun in the Disney series. After this she’ll probably have to settle for her own singing career and the notoriety she’s already gained for being the first anti-tweeter star and the cause of death for an obscure cat that everybody else seems to have forgotten.

After finishing up on what she claims could be her last pop record, Miley Cyrus says that she wants to change her whole musical sound. Disney may have completely lost their queen as the singer said “I want to do my last pop record, I’m working on a record right now. I kinda want this to be my last record for a little while and be able to take a break and just get all the types of music that I really love…you know my favorite styles. And be able to have something edgier and not have to worry about people saying, ‘Oh, this isn’t what her fans want to listen to.’ Because in a few years, as I grow up, so will my fans and I won’t have to focus on that as much and I’ll be able to have more of the sound of music that I’m into.”

As much crap as I’ve given Miley Cyrus for getting a tattoo when it’s clearly illegal for her to have one, the meaning behind the ink ‘Just Breathe’ is actually pretty heart warming. It seems that the singer got it to honor the memory of Vanessa, one of her close friends that passed away due to Cystic Fibrosis over three years ago. And apparently, ‘Just Breathe’ is the slogan for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Well that certainly caught me by surprise. Who would have thought that Miley actually does something that makes sense? However, that still doesn’t take away from the fact that she’s still a minor with a tattoo.

After already witnessing to the world that she is the coolest, with no small amount of modesty one might add, it seems Miley Cyrus has finally found her role model in life. The young singer had this to say about none other than Beyonce: “I want to be like Beyonce. She is the ultimate woman. You look at her and you don’t think, I wonder what her personal life is like. You look at her and you go, That girl on the stage is a superstar. You don’t care about anything else; you only care about her music. So I would hope that would be me in the future.” What’s the point of setting such goals for herself? Miley Cyrus is already the most super-dooper-uber-pooper-mega coolest person there is. Why does she even want to lower herself to Beyonce’s level?

Miley Cyrus decided to make a couple of changes to her lyrics at her concert in Kentucky earlier this week. In the Disney star’s song ‘7 Things’, Miley changed a line from “your games” to “you’re gay”. Of course, everyone on Twitter is talking about it. The big question is, was it just an innocent slip of the tongue from the singer or has she forgotten that she is an advocate for gay marriage? If Miley still had her Twitter account, I’m sure we would have already known the answer a few minutes after her concert. See, it was useful for some things.

Kelly Clarkson recently joined Jill & Kate in covering Miley Cyrus’ hit song ‘The Climb’. And let me just say this – the original American Idol champ actually sang the song better than the Disney star. The 27-year old singer also wrote a post-VH1 Divas Live blog entry saying “So, Melissa Etheridge is so cool first off, but her voice is absolutely incredible!! I’m so happy I asked her to sing ["Bring Me Some Water"] on the show with me and I’m even more happy that she said yes and I got to perform with her! It was one of my favorite moments of the year…she’s such a class act and rad as can be!” Kelly also wrote about meeting Adele and watching India Arie and Sheryl Crow, two of her favorites, perform live for the first time.

Billy Ray Cyrus doesn’t think that anything was wrong with his daughter Miley Cyrus performing a pole dance at the Teen Choice Awards that went down recently. The singer told Access Hollywood “You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people.” I still find it disturbing that a 16-year old Disney star is doing something so sultry. Billy Ray adds “I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice. I think it’s important.” However, there’s also a fine line between art and trash. And Miley clearly falls in the trash category.

Miley Cyrus’ big brother, Trace Cyrus, unloaded some details on his split with Demi Lovato. The Metro Station singer told the press “Demi is one of my good friends and I definitely became very, very close with her in the past few months, and it’s something I really wanted to make work. But unfortunately, we both have very busy schedules – we’re both on tour right now. I’m always on the other side of the world and so is she, so it just seemed like something that can’t work out at this time… But she is a lot younger than me. When someone is that much younger, you’re looking for different things in relationships. Maybe when she’s older and we’ve both matured, we’ll be looking for the same thing and it can work out.” She’s 16 and he’s 20. How big of a difference could there be?

Miley Cyrus’ management hung up on more than one radio station this past week during phone interviews with the singer actress. The Hannah Montana star has recently taken to her Twitter to try to defend herself. She wrote “Theirs a little drama (of course the world loves it ew.) because apparently i “hung up” on radio stations today and I hate to say thats not true. I am a specific time limit and schedules are set up for specific time frames for each station… if a station goes over time I am IMMEDIATELY connected to the next station. YES, i am sorry if anyone thought I ‘hung up” on them. The peeps at the radio stations r friends we know each other well and have a great relationship. I’m sorry if anything was miscommunicated, taken out of context, or misunderstood.” Why wouldn’t any of the stations try to wrap up if they were nearing the limit?

Brandi Cyrus, Miley’s older sister, got herself a band called Frank and Derol with friends Megan Park and Codi Caraco. Brandi recently talked to some press and talked about who inspires her musically. She replied “Definitely my sister and my dad, but aside from them I listen to so much different music. My favorite band of all time is Jimmy Eat World, I’ve listened to them for so long. I’m good friends with Hayley, from Paramore and I look up to her a lot. I basically watched that band build their entire career from the ground up.” If Miley inspires her music, I’d rather not hear any of it.

Newly-single teen superstar Miley Cyrus has admitted that she and her ex Nick Jonas have “reconnected”.

The Hannah Montana star, 16, who split with model Justin Gaston earlier this week, told The River’s morning radio show in Nashville, Tennessee: “Nick is my best friend, and we still hang out all the time. We’ve definitely reconnected. We don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, but right now we’re just kind of kicking it and hanging out as much as we can.”

Cyrus had previously admitted that she “bawled for a month straight” when she and Nick called it quits at the end of 2007. But the pair, who sing a duet on the Jonas Brothers’ new song, Before The Storm, have since patched things up.

“We both just kind of saw each other and kind of decided this whole thing is kind of stupid,” Cyrus said. “We were all over the separation. I’m really happy to be back in their lives.”

Wild child British celebrity brat Peaches Geldoff has thrown some shots Miley Cyrus’ way by claiming that she’s a better role model for kids. Oh please! Peaches said “These girls that have been upheld as role models who are literally just girls who have been ferried from place to place, media trained, told what to do and just like complete veneers of people – people who are not even real. I’ve made mistakes, now I’ve come up from that and I’ve really bettered myself.” Neither of them is a good role model period. It’s just like choosing between the lesser of two evils.

Taylor Swift is on a roll when it comes to releasing music videos as she has just released the video for her new single ‘You Belong with Me’. The song is the third single from her sophomore album ‘Fearless’. The video features the dance team from Henderson High School, the school from which the country singing cutie graduated. It also features Lucas Till from ‘Hannah Montana the Movie’ which Taylor also appeared in. It was just last week that Taylor also released the video for ‘The Best Day’, her early mother’s day gift to her mom. That was so sweet!
