For those of you who were absolutely baffled as to how Mariah Carey became such a huge success in Brazil, I have the reason for you. The curvaceous singer’s cover of Foreigner’s ‘I Want to Know What Love is’ has been on the Brazilian music charts for 20 consecutive weeks at the top spot and it the longest chart topper in the country’s history. It turns out that Mariah’s song was turned into the theme song for one of Brazil’s popular soap operas, ‘Viver a Vida’. The fact that it’s been tied into the soap opera explains the popularity of her song. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they love her.

Simon Cowell and The Sun are working on a charity single to benefit Haiti relief and the stars are coming out of the woodwork to make sure that it has promise. Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Jon Bon Jovi have reportedly signed on to cover REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ joining the already announced Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Rod Stewart. The recording began this past weekend with Cheryl Cole, Brit band JLS, but others are still expected to get into the studio like Take That, Michael Buble, Westlife, Alexandra Burke, James Morrison, Mika and James Blunt. Simon said “It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti. This is something that really matters to us all, and I’m so grateful for the support we are getting.”

Mariah Carey announced via her Twitter that she would be coming out with her own brand of champagne. The singer said “Didn’t realize they put the champagne on the tables, So we WOULDN’T drink it! LoL. No, seriously ANGEL CHAMPAGNE (ROSE) by MC coming soon!” I now wonder whether her slurred speeches that she recently made were marketing ploys or research and development instead of her actually being drunk. It’s good that the curvaceous diva didn’t announce a specific date of the champagne’s debut though as it would probably just get pushed back anyway. And yes, I went there. When was the last time something of Mariah’s came out on time anyway?

Mariah Carey recently released the new music video for her new single ‘H.A.T.E.U.’. The video was shot on the beach in Malibu and was directed by video and film director Brett Ratner. Expect a remix of the song to come out soon. Rumor is going around that Jermaine Dupri will be the producer and Big Boi will lend his rapper skills to the singer’s song. ‘H.A.T.E.U.’ is the third single off of Mariah’s latest studio effort ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’. What do you think? Has Mariah escaped the realm of mediocrity or will she forever stay there? I say the latter.

Mariah Carey revealed on Larry King Live that she has also been affected by abuse in relationships. Are we sure she’s not just riding the coattails of Rihanna’s interview regarding the assault Chris Brown put her through? The curvaceous singer said “Abuse has several categories. Emotionally, mentally, in other ways. I just think you get into a situation and you feel locked in — if your situation is similar to one of the situations I’ve been in, which I won’t harp on. For me, to really get out, it was difficult because there was a connection that was not only a marriage but a business thing where the person was in control of my life.” She’s talking about Sony Music exec Tommy Mottola.

Who doesn’t love Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You?’. The singer spoke of her 1994 hit and Christmas album saying “When I realize how that song has become a part of Christmas tradition, it’s crazy to me, thrilling, humbling. You know, I didn’t want to do a Christmas album. It was Tommy [Mottola]’s idea. And I was all, ‘Please I’m a young girl. People don’t do Christmas albums until they are, like, 50. Some sort of last resort.’ But he insisted. ‘No, no. Do it. It’ll be a big hit. So I did and it was, and I’ll always be grateful for that.” Now, Mariah is saying she has plans to do a new Christmas recording with her mother, Patricia Carey, a vocal coach and former opera singer. Now that is what I call a last resort.

Music industry insiders are saying that Mariah Carey’s new album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ is expected to debut at #2 on the US album charts, just behind Paramore with their new record ‘Brand New Eyes’ which was released on the same day as the curvaceous singer’s album. Early sales reports predicted that Mariah’s album will sell in the range of 160,000 to 170,000 copies while Paramore’s album is expected to sell 180,000 to 190,000. In comparison with the release of her last album ‘E=MC²’ which debuted with 463,000 copies sold in its first week, Mariah is facing an almost 70 percent drop in sales.

As a favor to her husband, Nick Cannon, who just happens to be the host of America’s Got Talent, Mariah Carey performed on the show last week. The curvaceous singer sang her latest single ‘Obsessed’. There was something mighty off about her performance though. Mariah’s performance was very reminiscent on Britney Spears’ VMA 2007 performance – dull, disappointing and all sorts of awful. I can’t say that I’m not surprised. The song she sang is mediocre at best so I can’t really appreciate it if she performs it and I can tell that she’s singing to a backing track. I almost fell asleep watching her.

Michael Jackson’s memorial turned up some all star names. Apart from the actual attendees, some special mention can be given to those who spoke out and performed in honor of the late King of Pop. Those participants, include Ron Boyd (family friend); Kobe Bryant; Mariah Carey; Andrae Crouch Choir; Berry Gordy; Jennifer Hudson; Shaheen Jafargholi (finalist on Britain’s Got Talent); Magic Johnson; Martin Luther King III; Bernice A. King; John Mayer; Lionel Richie; Smokey Robinson; Rev. Al Sharpton; Brooke Shields; Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend); Usher; and Stevie Wonder. The memorial of the iconic singer was broadcasted on five major TV networks.

The singer has apparently received the opportunity to perform at London’s West End Theatre for twenty two thousand dollars a week. A source related Mariah Carey’s reaction to the offer: “Mariah’s done a bit of acting in her time but nothing on this scale. She was hugely flattered to have been asked and is determined to nail the part. She is pretty confident in her own abilities. And although there has been talk of musicals, Mariah has always wanted to star in a play so this really is a dream come true.” Ah, yes, when it is a dream come true, you go for the measly price of a few grand a week, but on other occasions there’s no limit to the funds and privileges Mariah Carey asks for. What about singing live… isn’t that a dream come true too?

The singer of the famous “Hero” song apparently furiously left the Inauguration Ball on Tuesday night when she found out that she would not be sitting at the same table with the Barack Obama family, but that she would be sitting at the VIP lounge with other celebrities… whom she probably considered to be the commoners. A source said: “Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated. But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Barack Obama family. When she realized she wasn’t, she bailed.” Of course she left, Mariah Carey is too good to sit at the same table with Alicia Keys or Jon Bon Jovi. Well, her loss, she probably missed out on the party and also brought lots more honor to her already stainless name.

The singer has recently declared that she wants to rule the world toghether with Simon Cowell. She had this to say about him: “The man has it all. I’ve always admired him and have told him we could rule the world together.” He also responded to this in a nice way but he stated that he is too busy working with Leona Lewis, of whom he added: “who I believe could take Mariah’s crown.” This is getting scary. Since when do these people try to rule the world? I can just imagine them sitting in the dark at night, twisting ther moustaches and hatching evil schemes of world domination.

Some crazy stuff went down at the Fashion Rocks after party at New York’s Rainbow Bar last weekend. According to reports, Justin Timberlake had to dive for cover and dodge punches after his bodyguard tried to grab a mobile phone off a fan who sneaked into the VIP area to snap a picture of the singer. All hell broke loose when the girl’s friends stepped in to help her and glasses flew off tables and shattered everywhere. Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Chris Brown all had to duck for cover as well. The divas were supposedly shrieking in horror as their security teams protected them from the flying debris.

According to insiders who recently worked on set with the Diva herself, Mariah exhibited some on-set bonkers behavior during the horrific Hawaiian music video shoot for “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time,”.

According to our source, Mariah’s antics were over the top and even bonkers.

When asked about how it was to work with her he said that “She’s crazy as a loon” and that she’s “Totally nuts.”
He also shares a bit of interesting trivia. He says, “”She has a midget!”

He shares that the during the shoot, she drinks this screw bottle of pinot noir. She would be drinking out of a specific glass and whenever the glass would be empty, she’d hand it over to a midget standing nearby.”

Lastly, when asked if her nanny, I mean her husband Nick Cannon was there, he said tha he (Nick) was just like an assistant.

Maybe it’s the sign of the times, or maybe she’s down for another “breakdown”? who knows?

All I know is I don’t want to be Nick nor that midget!

The world better brace itself because we’re going to be hit by a diva hurricane as Mariah Carey is going on tour. The singer has just announced the big news on the JohnJay & Rich morning radio show on Wednesday. The tour is still in the planning stages though so don’t expect to see her this summer. The earliest we can see her is later this year. And if you add in the diva factor, the tour may not happen until next year. By then, people would have lost interest and there wcouldn’t have been a point anyway. She should have planned the tour right when she released her album.

Mariah Carey is used to all things fancy so it should come as no surprise that even a trip to the tacky Magic Mountain is still going to get touches of her diva personality. An inside source has revealed some details that went down at the diva’s wedding party, namely when it came to the bathrooms. Mariah had her own private potty to piss in with guards right outside the bathroom. If the diva has to be comfy, the guests have to be too. The boys’ room had tissues, a cup full of gum and even a candle while the ladies’ room had pink mats, gum, Listerine and a basket full of hairspray. The newlyweds were also said to be driven around the theme park in a gold cart with Mariah being followed by a hairstylist and makeup artist.

Mariah Carey was set to perform in Dubai on May 15th but for all those who have tickets, might as well get a refund as the diva has just cancelled the show. Unfortunately, Fergie, who was set to follow Mariah the next day, cancelled as well. According to the official press release “Midas Promotions along with Blue Giraffe Entertainment and On Golden Pond Pictures regret to announce the ‘Divas in Dubai’ concert event is being rescheduled to a later date in the Fall 2008. Mariah and Fergie are disappointed that they won’t be able to perform. They had scheduled this one special event in their calendars and were looking forward to performing for the Dubai fans.” The official reason for the postponement is “the extremely compressed time frame along with unforeseen logistical complications compelled us to move the event later in the year to ensure a show commensurate with the level of success of these world class artists and the people of Dubai.”

Mariah Carey’s new album ‘E=MC2’ got leaked onto the internet this past weekend. I’m not going to say where and how to download it but if you know you’re way around the cyber world, then you’ll figure it out. The leak kind of dampens the plans as Mariah’s album is supposed to come out on April 15th. Now that her music can be downloaded for free on the internet, I wonder if her fans will still buy her music. Considering that previews of Mariah’s music aren’t all good, I’m guessing her sales numbers would drop. That definitely sucks for her.

I said, in not so many words, that Madonna was going to win over Mariah Carey in their unofficial diva battle. An industry expert explains why that is so. Mariah always gets to go first, with her song being on radio for more than a month while Madonna’s has only been on for a week. Mariah’s album also comes out before Madonna’s. Mariah’s song dropped on iTunes a day before Madonna’s. All that really means is that Mariah will have a strong first week and go down while Madonna’s will gain airplay and get stronger as Mariah drops. In short, Madonna still wins in the end.

Mariah Carey’s new album ‘E=MC2’ is set to come out on April 15. Madonna’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ will be dropping in on April 29. Mariah’s been on 1, maybe 2, magazine covers and was obviously photoshopped. Madonna’s been in 4 now and she’s fiercer than ever. While Madonna has her own Sunsilk ad, Mariah has to share the spotlight with the likes of Martha Stewart, Carlos Santana and Gabriel Aubry. The 38-year old curvaceous diva will debut in a spot for Macy’s next week. And like I’ve said before, she needs a new stylist. It’s no wonder why she’s losing to Madonna on this one.
