Gorillaz star Murdoc Niccals turned down a collaboration with Katy Perry because of her fiance Russell Brand.

The singer admitted that Perry, 25, wanted to be part of their new album, Plastic Beach, but he couldn’t put up with the star’s fiance, Brand, 35.

Band member Murdoc was asked if anyone had turned them down and he told BBC 6Music: “Katy Perry – she’s been after a guest spot for ages and I tried to turn her down.

“No, I couldn’t work with the woman while she’s got Russell Brand all over her.”

The US star also said that he would never put anyone on the record unless he was a fan of them.

He said: “I wouldn’t invite anybody that I didn’t admire. There’s lots of different methods that you can get this sort of talent on this sort of record.

“One way is you can phone them up and ask them. That’s one way.”

Katy Perry recently spoke to Glamour magazine about her relationship dos and don’ts. The singer said “Drugs are a huge, huge deal breaker. Substance abuse. Lack of ambition. I can’t deal when someone dillydallies through life. You’ve got to have drive – that’s so sexy. I don’t care if someone farts or picks his nose, because that’s going to happen in the long run.” I wonder if that’s how her fiancé, comedian Russell Brand, is with her. And I completely agree on the drugs part. I think only Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen could last with those types of things in their life.

As she was invited as a judge on last night’s show, the singer revealed her true colors which are apparently quite cold. It seems Katy Perry got into a bit of an argument with Kara DioGuardi over the talent of one of the singers and when the latter started relating the singer’s not so happy history, Katy Perry cut it short with the following line: “This isn’t a Lifetime movie.” Well, well, looks like somebody picked the wrong time of the month to invite Katy Perry to judge a contest. Poor Russell Brand, he really seems to be in for a treat once they’re married.

It was announced recently that Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne will be the latest celebrities to lend their famous faces to Proactiv. The singers, both 25 years of age, will have their commercial spots for the acne solution premiering on TV this month. Also joining in on the campaign this month is ‘The Office’ actress Jenna Fischer. Past celebrities who have appeared on Proactiv commercials include singer Mandy Moore, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and Dancing with the Stars cutie and country singer Julianne Hough. Funny, I didn’t think any of them had any problems with acne. Oh well, a face is a face.

Katy Perry, or at the very least the singer’s friends, seem to be very smart. The Twitter obsessed singer recently shared that her friends make sure that she doesn’t do anything stupid when she parties it up. Katy explained “Sometimes, whenever I go out — not when I’m on tour but when I’m at home and I’m out and I’m celebrating — if I have a couple of drinks my friends will take away my phone in fear of me buzz Twittering because you never know what I might say. And I’m glad they do it too.” I wonder if she has any friends that she can share with Courtney Love.

Speaking of the Manuel-gate, the scandal involving lewd messages he left on actor Andrew Sachs’s answer phone, he said, ”I would’ve done nothing differently. I apologise for the thing I did wrong to the person I did it to but the whole subsequent scandal was funny, it is funny I think. It’s just rhubarb and guff.”

Brand also took a moment to comment on Katy Perry’s outfit at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin, which she hosted with sexy lingerie tagged with his name and that of the West Ham team.

He said: ”I don’t think she realised the impact it would have on me because there isn’t a single person in my life that I haven’t at some point sulked about or not spoken to, but with West Ham, even when we went down, there’s not been a single time when I’ve not supported them, plus, she looked amazing.”

Katy Perry is supposedly desperate for her family to accept her new boyfriend Russell Brand so the singer is arranging for a meeting as soon as possible before she hosts the MTV Europe Music Awards next month. A source said “Katy is as besotted with Russell as he is with her. However, her parents are extraordinarily strict Christians. Katy is sure that, after a bit of getting used to him, they would approve of Russell, but she wants to get that initial meeting out of the way as early as she can. Keith and Mary are devoted to the church and hold the institution of marriage as a central core of their beliefs.” Keith and Mary Hudson are pastors who run an evangelical ministry in Temecula, California.

The adorable Taylor Swift won Best Female Video by beating out Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Beyonce at the MTV VMAs. It was the country singer’s first VMA but her moment was rudely taken from her. When Taylor started to give her acceptance speech, Kanye West jumped up on stage and took her mic to proclaim that Beyonce really had one of the best videos of all time. What a douche bag! The crowd then started to boo and the rapper stormed off stage and left Taylor speechless. All of that went down just a few minutes before she was set to take the stage again to perform.

Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry recently joined American Idol as guest judges during the final two days of auditions in Los Angeles last week. On their respective days, the two singer sat at the judges table next to Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi while the final group of wannabes tried for a golden ticket to Hollywood. Avril and Katy completed the list of guest judges. Other judges include Victoria Beckham in Denver and Boston, Mary J. Blige in Atlanta, Joe Jonas and Neil Patrick Harris in Dallas, Kristin Chenoweth in Orlando and Shania Twain in Chicago. I can’t wait for the next season of the show!

Beth Ditto is still on her tirade against Katy Perry, responding to Katy’s recent opinion that she is not impressed with The Gossip lead singer. The feeling seems to be mutual as Beth explains to Spinner that she still feels Katy’s success with ‘I Kissed a Girl’ is offensive to gay people. Beth said “I don’t care if she writes a song about kissing a girl, but there are people who kiss girls in their everyday life, and it’s not as easy as just kissing a girl and everyone loving you. It’d be really rad to hear her talk about something like that.” At the heart of it though, Beth is trying to shed light on the hypocrisy of the industry by putting Katy and her song on some sort of pedestal but still alienating gay and lesbians any other time.

Lady Gaga has just made history as her first single, ‘Just Dance’ has become only the fifth song ever to reach the 4 million mark in paid downloads! Her follow up to that single, ‘Poker Face’ is gearing up towards that direction too as it recently hit the 3 million mark last week. Only two other female solo artists have had two songs top the 3 million mark and those two are Rihanna and Katy Perry. Lady Gaga’s album ‘The Fame’ is also on the top 10 of The Billboard 200 for the 14th week last week. It’s been a huge week for her. Congratulations!

The singer has recently compared herself to a ninja due to her uncanny ability to remain undetected in crowds. Katy Perry said: “I am like a ninja when it comes to disguise. I am really good at putting on a hat and sunglasses and leaving my sparkly outfits at home and putting on some sweats or something.” I’m sure this does work really well for Katy Perry considering that there are so many people who expect to see her on the streets dressing exactly the way she does on stage. Katy Perry talks about her love life, sort of, in the new issue of UK Cosmo. The singer said “I don’t like being single. I live a fantastic life, full of magical things, and at the end of the day all I want to do is share it with someone. I’ll probably end up with someone who’s a bit older and a few steps ahead of me — I want someone I can learn from. It’s always been difficult [to find a boyfriend] because I’m so picky. And if I go to dinner with a guy, people automatically think we’re dating. And then when you do start dating it becomes a race to the altar.”

A lot of sources close to both Katy Perry and Josh Groban are coming out saying that the singers are actually dating. A source familiar with the relationship says “They’ve been trying to keep it very low profile.” Sneaky! Several sources have also said that the relationship has been going on for a few months now. I guess Katy didn’t want another very public relationship much like her last one. And it doesn’t seem like Josh to be showy either. Katy Perry attended the 14th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards last week. I’m not sure why she was there but the singer was looking really glamorous that night. She looked like she got schooled by Dita Von Teese with her choice of frocks. I love it! And oh yeah, don’t forget that you can still enter the competition for the chance to perform on stage with Katy at this year’s Grammy Awards. She was signed by my label in America as, ‘We need to find something controversial and kooky like Lily Allen.’ And then they found her… I think the lyrics and stuff are a bit crass… When I met her I was bit frosty with her because someone asked her to describe herself. She’s like, ‘Aha, I’m like a fatter version of Amy Winehouse and a skinner version of Lily Allen!’. It’s like, you’re not English and you don’t write your own songs, shut up!” Newsflash Lily, Katy does write her own songs.
