Taylor Momsen recently opened up to Parade magazine on how she has trouble “fitting in”, how she has no interest in being a role model, being a celebrity and her music. I’m starting to get irritated with the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress turned singer for trying hard to be edgy when everyone knows she’s just a poser. She talked about her music, saying “I’ve done an album. Music is where I can be me. I really do it because I love it, honestly. It’s what I want to do with my life. I mean, it’s my only goal. Acting is easy. I’ve been doing it for so long and I totally love it. But you’re playing a character instead of yourself. Music is more personal because you’re writing it and you’re involved in every step of it. I’ve been writing songs since I was, like, five and I’ve been singing since, like, I can’t remember.” I doubt it.

Gossip Girl actress Hilary Duff, 22, is extending her talents to novel writing.

Duff has signed with top New York publisher Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers to write a series of young adult novels, beginning with one titled Elixir.

The first novel will tell the story of the worldwide adventures of a photojournalist named Clea Raymond and be released in October this year, ninemsn.com reports.

Duff, who is set to appear in The Story Of Bonnie And Clyde this year, is also planning a non-fiction book about children coping with divorce. She is the daughter of a producer who separated from her husband, inspiring her songs Stranger and Gypsy Woman.

When cornered on the Golden Globes red carpet this past Sunday, Chace Crawford was asked if he was happy to have learned that his ex-girlfriend, country singer Carrie Underwood had gotten engaged to hunky hockey player Mike Fisher. The ‘Gossip Girl’ actor very humbly said that he was happy for her and wished her the best with her future plans. I’m glad to hear that there aren’t any sour grapes from Chace. After all, he was the one who let her get away in the first place. I’m sure he’s a tough one to get over but I’m glad she is happy.

Gossip Girl star and pop singer Leighton Meester was reportedly rude to fans while backstage at Z100’s Jingle Ball in New York.

A source said: “Leighton was very rude to young kids backstage at Z100’s Jingle Ball in New York. She didn’t want to take any extra photos with any of the young fans asking for them.”

Meester, 23, was allegedly sighing and complaining over the attention from waiting photographers and young people.

“It’s like this everywhere I go,” she whined. It is claimed that a young fan then walked up to the star to ask for a special photo, but Meester barely acknowledged the child, saying: “No more pictures. I already did pictures.”

Another source, familiar with Leighton’s childhood, career and transition to adulthood, said: “It’s surprising how Leighton acts now that she’s famous. She and her mom worked very hard to get her to this spot and she could be more gracious. Her mom was her manager and they had very little money and really pushed for Leighton to get roles. She was a very driven child.”

Both singer introduced the most hotly anticipated performers of the year including the likes of Shakira, Timbaland, Jordin Sparks, The Fray, Flo Rida, LMFAO, 3OH!3, Colbie Caillat, Jason Derulo and iYaz. The 16-year old ‘Gossip Girl’ actress and singer is reportedly unhappy with the TV show using co-star Leighton Meester’s songs and bypassing her own songs. A rep for the CW network responded to the rumors saying “The show will support Taylor and her music when the time is right, but her music is not ready yet.” Maybe they could try to even interject her being a singer into the storyline. What makes Leighton so much better that it’s only her music being used anyway?

Leighton Meester gave concertgoers a heck of a surprise when the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress turned singer decided to crash a Cobra Starship and Boys Like Girls concert at the Nokia Theater in Times Square, New York City last week. During the concert, the 23-year old jumped up on stage and sang ‘Good Girls Go Bad’ with Cobra Starship lead singer Gabe Saporta and the rest of the band. The crowd went absolutely wild! Maybe Leighton should just ditch her TV gig completely and just focus on her music career. It seems that even that’s doing better than ‘Gossip Girl’ ratings.

‘Gossip Girl’ star Leighton Meester joined Weezer on stage during the band’s Halloween concert at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City last weekend. The actress and aspiring singer helped Rivers Cuomo sing the band’s new single ‘(If You’re Wondering if I Want You To) I Want You To’. Naked Brothers Band guitarist Nat Wolff also joined in on the show. After the show, Leighton went on her Twitter to talk about her experience and said that Rivers was “perfection in a bottle”. I know I’ve shared my doubts about Leighton’s singing but she’s actually pretty good live. The success of her music career is still up in the air though.

Lady GaGa is the latest star to sign up for a guest appearance on teen US show Gossip Girl.

The pop sensation filmed an upcoming episode of the popular series in New York Tuesday in which she performs as herself.

GaGa is just one of a number of stars who have been asked to make an appearance on the show’s third season.

Tyra Banks, Hilary Duff, Tory Burch, Sonic Youth and Gina Torres have all graced the Gossip Girls screen this series.

Narrated by the omniscient yet unseen blogger “Gossip Girl”, voiced by Kristen Bell, the series revolves around the lives of privileged teenagers attending an elite private school in New York City’s Upper East Side.

Taylor Momsen has to pay big bucks to her record company if she takes on any acting gigs with musical elements. The ‘Gossip Girl’ actress and aspiring singer’s record contract with Interscope Records which states that if she takes a role as a musician or band member, she has to fork over 10% of her pay check for that gig. Here’s the catch, Taylor included a clause in the contract which allows her to sing for free on 2 projects – ‘Gossip Girl’ and an upcoming Runaways project. The only Runaways project we’ve heard of is the Joan Jett biopic starring Kristen Stewart and as far as we know, Taylor isn’t part of the cast.

Who knew that ‘Gossip Girl’ star Taylor Momsen actually has a band? The pretty blonde starlet is a member of the band called the Pretty Reckless and they are going to be hitting the road with The Veronicas. They will be making their way around Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio. I wonder if Taylor’s band is any good. I like this girl and I’m hoping that she’s not among those wannabe actresses who just think they can sing or rock or whatever. Paging Scarlett Johansson. Leona Lewis has finally premiered her latest music video for her song ‘I Will Be’. ‘Gossip Girl’ actor Chace Crawford has several speaking lines in a brief cameo at the beginning of the video. The music video was directed by Melina Matsoukas, who also directed the international version of Leona’s ‘Bleeding Love’ music video. In the video for ‘I Will Be’, Leona Lewis plays a criminal who gets arrested by an NYPD officer, played by Cedric Darius. It looked like Leona Lewis got to practice her acting chops for this one. I wonder if she has any plans to go into acting.

Rihanna is certainly known for her music abilities but is she ready to show off her acting chops? Sure, she had a cameo on the direct to DVD film ‘Bring it On 3’ but she just played herself for about 5 minutes. With ‘Gossip Girl’ creator Josh Schwartz about to create a younger version with its newest ‘X-Men’ installment, MTV believes that the 20-year old Barbadian beauty could follow in Halle Berry’s footsteps and be the next Storm. Rihanna is definitely that far off from Halle in terms of beauty and sexiness.
