Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Honor-Society

Pop-rockers Honor Society debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 200 this week, moving over 22,000 units of their debut album, Fashionably Late. The band kicked off their second headlining tour on Monday, September 21 in Minneapolis, MN and will continue a run of nearly 40 dates with shows across the United States and Canada including an appearance on The Today Show on Friday, September 25.

The release of Fashionably Late caps off a busy summer for Honor Society as they joined the Jonas Brothers on their World Tour 2009 performing to nearly 1 million fans throughout North America. Honor Society simultaneously headlined their own club tour called The Full Moon Crazy Tour where they brought their high-energy live shows to sold out venues including the Blender Theater in New York City and over 1,500 fans at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.
See below for what the press is saying about Honor Society and Fashionably Late and visit HonorSocietyMusic.com for more info and a full list of tour dates.

Rolling Stone

“Over You” (3 stars) — delivers “shiny heartbreak that splits the difference between *NSYNC and Maroon 5 – all riffing synths… and tunefulness.”

Entertainment Weekly

Honor Society are “crafty pop rock dudes” with songs that “shimmer with freeze-dried funk licks…”

People Magazine

“…fans will likely swoon over …” whose “strongest tracks include the power ballads ‘Where Are You Now’ and ‘Goodnight My Love’ both showcasing Bruno’s emotive tenor. ‘My Own Way’ is an infectious pop-rocker.”

Dallas Morning News

Honor Society are “purveyors of that frenetic catchy-crunchy pop sound of the day…”

Now the boys from Denver are back with a new set and a fall tour! Waking Up will be released November 17th on Mosley/Interscope Records. First single “All The Right Moves” will go for adds at radio September 22nd.

Lily Allen Gives Old Break Up Line

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Lily Allen was the epitome of a train wreck as she cried her way through her performances in Finland last week. The singer had apparently had a bit of an accident the night before the concert and injured her back. Even though she was in pain, Lily still went on stage to perform. When she took the stage, she gave fair warning about what they were in for saying “I feel a bit emotional tonight and if I cry it’s not because of you but because of me.” Why does she sound like she’s breaking up with her fans? I think that’s actually better for everyone considering the show that they got from her.

Kelly Clarkson on Tour

Friday, July 24th, 2009

The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, has finally announced the dates for her North American ‘All I Ever Wanted Tour’ for the fall of 2009. Here’s to hoping that the singer’s new tour doesn’t fail to sell like her last one. But then again, the last one was in support of a crappy album and this new one is for one that is more successful. It has been announced that Kelly’s opening acts will include The Veronicas and Parachute. It sounds like it’s going to be a cool show. I’m sure a lot of people will catch her show. Unless they claim they’re broke of course.

Ne-Yo Breaks Down

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Ne-Yo was feeling more than just a little under the weather last Thursday at his UK concert in Manchester. The R&B singer was in the middle of the song when he suddenly decided to walk off of the stage, only to come back in tears! He complained of feeling sick and saying that he doesn’t feel well enough to continue. Ne-Yo did promise to return at a later date though before exiting stage right to the sound of a very emotionally mixed audience. I wonder what was wrong with him. Some sources are saying that he didn’t look sick at all. Mind you, this isn’t the first time Ne-Yo has walked out of a performance.

Madonna Breaks Down

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

During her concert in Udine, Italy last week, Madonna took a moment to address the accident which occurred in Marseille, France on Thursday which claimed the lives of two workers. The Queen of Pop said “Before I continue the show I want to take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to two people who lost their lives today. I don’t know if you’ve heard. Two men building my show in Marseille where we’re going next – the crane fell and we don’t know why. (Madonna names them, Brit Charles Prow, 32, and Frenchman Charles Criscenzo, 53). I hate to be associated with suffering. I want to pay tribute to their families. Let’s take a moment to appreciate our family, loved ones, friends around us.” The singer then struggled to make it through her performance of ‘You Must Love Me’.

Demi Lovato Idolizes Kelly Clarkson

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Demi Lovato is one busy Disney star. The teen singer is currently on tour with David Archuleta but she was able to take some time answer a couple of questions from her fans. Demi was asked “Who is the one person, dead or alive, that you would want to collaborate on a song with and why?” She replied with “Kelly Clarkson because she has been such an inspiration since I was 10 years old.” I think that would be a great collaboration as they pretty much share the same genre of singing. Demi should tell David to get those American Idol connections going.

Jonas Brothers Team Up with McFly

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

The Jonas Brothers’ concert in London last week was absolutely crazy! Not only were a lot of the band of brothers’ fans in attendance treated to a spectacular performance by the trio of siblings but they also surprised everyone by bringing out their British equivalent McFly for a duet on their song ‘Star Girl’. You can just bet that the girls went ape crazy over that one. And I must say that the duet was awesome. Maybe they can have some collaborations on their next albums. Now that will keep those sales up for both groups and a lot of fans really happy.

Gary Barlow’s ballet phobia

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

The Take That singer is apparently terrified of ballet pumps even to the point where he has banned anyone from ever wearing them in the band’s backstage on their new tour. A source said the following about Gary Barlow’s strange fear: “Gary can’t stand the sight of ballet pumps. It may sound odd but he cannot bear them. He thinks they’re incredibly unflattering. In his eyes, even the most attractive woman would be pug ugly if she was wearing pumps. At one of their recent after-show parties, a dancer was kicking back in some pastel ballet pumps, and Gary had to leave the room. All 230-odd cast and crew have been told to stick to trainers or heels when not on stage. The other Take That guys find it hilarious.” It sounds more like loathing, then fear really. But hey, whatever keeps Gary Barlow’s wheels turning and Take That’s music rolling is probably got to stay, right?

Beyonce Gets Surprise Guest in Concert

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Beyonce Knowles gave her fans a great surprise for her last concert in London earlier this week. Legendary singer George Michael made a surprise appearance at the 27-year old singer’s show at the O2 Arena. They sang a duet of her hit number one song ‘If I Were a Boy’. I’m a not a big fan of Beyonce but that performance was a treat for any music lover out there. That would have easily left her London fans wanting more. They don’t have to fret though as Beyonce is rumored to be going back to the UK in November for more concert dates.

Wino Jewellery

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Amy Winehouse may not be able to make it through any of her concerts but the British train wreck of a singer has to make a living somehow. And apparently, she thinks that starting her own jewellery line is the way to do just that. London-based label PPQ has agreed to endorse this fashionable endeavor of Wino’s. I hope they have a ton of cash to burn because I truly believe that this will all just go up in flames faster than you can say “Wino has been hospitalized again.” Would you buy any of Wino’s designs? I don’t even consider her a fashion icon.

Lady GaGa’s illness on stage

Monday, May 18th, 2009

The singer apparently suffers from stage sickness before every one of her shows. Lady GaGa related he pre-show routine: “I’m very bossy. I don’t move on. I vomit in the bathroom before every show. I can scream my head off if I see one light fixture out. I’m very detailed – every minute of the show has got to be perfect. I want to grab the audience by the balls. This show has made me quite mental. But my focus is on the work. Not on the celebration.” That sounds quite nasty… it can’t be a pleasant experience for Lady GaGa to say goodbye to lunch every time before a concert. Still, I can’t understand it… I thought such a noble endeavor as singing about sex would elevate the human being above the petty nausea of everyday life.

Toni Braxton Times Two

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Trina Johnson-Finn, a Las Vegas entertainer and impersonator, was arrested after she pretended to be Toni Braxton in a concert in Paramaribo, Suriname in South Africa. Prosecutors claim that the impostor tried to fool the crowd in the concert which took place over 2 months ago. Her husband says that she was merely the victim of a local con artist and concert promoter who was responsible for scamming the concertgoers into thinking that the real Toni would be performing. The truth came out once Trina was on stage and messed up a note at the start of the second song. People in the 3000 strong crowd started to boo. The couple was then taken into custody and they have to go to court on May 26th after being charged with defrauding people who bought tickets. The concert promoter has been found and arrested just this Monday.

Jennifer Hudson Postpones Tour

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Jennifer Hudson’s tour with Robin Thicke has been postponed for at least a week because the singer has come down with a nasty throat condition due to over exertion of her priceless vocal cord. Are we sure it’s not because the rumors about her being pregnant are true and she’s suffering through morning sickness? The American Idol alum was a real trooper at this past weekend’s concert in Los Angeles though, hitting all of the high notes during her performance without even a hint of her feeling ill. Unfortunately, Jennifer’s shows in Oakland, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix and Biloxi have been postponed until further notice. I hope she gets well soon so she can be back on stage performing.

Green Day Announce Tour

Friday, April 24th, 2009

MULTI-PLATINUM BAND HIT THE ROAD IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM, 21ST CENTURY BREAKDOWN, TO BE RELEASED WORLDWIDE ON FRIDAY, MAY 15TH, 2009

Reprise Records’ Grammy®Award winning rock band Green Day have announced that they will hit the road for their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in more than three years beginning July 3rd in Seattle, WA. The first leg of the tour will cross North America through the summer and finish up with two shows in Los Angeles on August 26th.
Green Day are touring in support of their long-awaited eighth studio album 21st Century Breakdown, which will be released globally by Reprise Records on Friday, May 15th, 2009. Singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool have been at work writing, arranging, and recording 21st Century Breakdown since early 2006 with producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins). The first single, “Know Your Enemy” was released to radio and digital retailers on April 16th.
Green Day recently performed 21st Century Breakdown in its entirety during a series of warm-up club shows for hometown fans in the Bay Area. In its review of a show at Oakland’s Fox Theater, Rolling Stone commented that the band, augmented by guitarists Jason White and Jeff Matika, and keyboardist Jason Freese, had the “Quadrophenia-like hang of 21st Century Breakdown’s classic rock melodies and lifetime-punk drive down solid” and that the album is “rock opera in which the rock always comes first.” “21st Century Breakdown is Green Day’s best album,” the reviewer concluded, “and at the Fox, they proved that the rock opera can be as punk as a Clash 45.”
21st Century Breakdown is Green Day’s first studio album since 2004’s two-time Grammy Award-winning punk-rock opera American Idiot, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide.
