Lady Gaga Rules the Charts

Friday, March 19th, 2010

There is just no stopping the power of Lady Gaga! For the sixth time in her career, the princess of pop has a song in the top 10 of the Billboard charts Hot 100. ‘Telephone’ featuring R&B singer Beyonce came in at number 9 this week. Don’t expect it to stay there forever though. Just as with all of Lady Gaga’s other singles, I’m pretty sure the song would be on the rise and well on its way to the top in the coming weeks – maybe even next week. I can guarantee it! And with Lady Gaga, that’s pretty much a fool proof bet.

Lady Gaga in 3D

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Lady Gaga is busy taking over the world with her Monster Ball Tour and putting the finishing touches on her music video for ‘Telephone’ with Beyonce but a rep at her label has revealed that there are talks about a 3D concert and DVD in the near future for the princess of pop. Is this what the singer has been prepping her fans for when the deluxe edition of her album ‘The Fame Monster’ included a pair of 3D glasses? That’s the only other reason that I can think of and I am utterly excited about this piece of news. I can already imagine the crazy stuff that she’s going to pull off.

The Face of Haiti Fashion

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

Beyonce Knowles has been named the official face of the ‘Fashion for Haiti’ shirt. The 28-year old R&B singer and actress is encouraging people to buy the shirt, created by Peter Arnell, who also created a mended heart logo shirt that raised $2 million for charity after 9/11. Beyonce was named the spokesperson through the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The shirt costs $25 and will benefit the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. Beyonce said “Join me and the fashion industry by buying and wearing the Fashion for Haiti T-shirt. Together we can send a message of hope by raising much needed funds for the people of Haiti.”

Woman suing Beyonce’s father in paternity claim gives birth

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

A woman who hit Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, with a paternity lawsuit has given birth to a son.

The child’s mother, AlexSandra Wright, filed the paternity suit against the troubled record company executive in October last year.

Wright is a 38-year-old Canadian actress who appeared on Scrubs.

She claims she and Knowles had a relationship that ran for 18 months. She claims that she and Knowles picked the baby’s name – reportedly Nixon.

Wright will appear in court next week in a bid to get child support from Knowles.

Knowles, who also managed his other daughter Solange’s musical career, is credited with creating the group Destiny’s Child, Beyonce’s launch pad.

Beyonce and Kings of Leon in the same studio

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

It seems that Beyonce still wants to expand her musical horizon. After the Grammy Awards information surfaced that she might have approached Kings of Leon and proposed collaboration for a track. This is what a source related on the matter: “Beyonce looked stunning and was chatting to virtually every major star on hand. She kissed Kings of Leon on their cheeks and congratulated them on winning an award for Use Somebody. They were chatting for ages. She knows how huge they are in the UK and loves their album. She was scouting for people to collaborate with and has been talking about doing something different with a rock band. Kings of Leon would be perfect.” Of course they would be perfect… after all, they’re the ones that won a Grammy and Beyonce is probably not going to work with just anyone. There are standards that need to be respected here!

Beyonce wishes she could take the booty out of Bootylicious

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

She may have invented a word that made it into the Oxford English Dictionary, but Beyoncé Knowles has said she wishes she had thought of a better word instead.

The 28-year-old singer, who wrote the 2001 hit Bootylicious, said: “I still can’t believe it! It’s hilarious.

“I actually wish it was another word that I created. I wish it didn’t have ‘booty’ in it.”

She also revealed that she has outgrown her sassy stage persona Sasha Fierce.

She said: “Sasha Fierce is my alter-ego… and I have used this person to take over when I’m too scared or too shy.

“The thing that’s interesting is, I don’t need Sasha Fierce anymore, because I’ve grown and I’m now able to merge the two.

“I want people to see me. I want people to see who I am.”

And that means women all over the world – including countries such as Egypt, where last year Islamic groups called her show a “nudity concert”.

Knowles said that she knew nothing about the controversy beforehand, but that she was thrilled to see the audience enjoying themselves.

She said: “It made me feel really proud to see the ladies putting their arms up saying, ‘To the left, to the left’, and jamming…

“I’m a voice for those women, and it makes me feel like my job and my music are doing what they’re supposed to do…

She added: “It gives me chills just thinking about it: women so empowered, singing every word, their fists up, their hands up, feeling strong.”

Alexandra Burke has famous friends

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

It seems that Alexandra Burke rolls in the best of circles. The singer is apparently in close contact with some very famous people, including Beyonce whom she mails regularly. This is what Alexandra Burke related on the matter: “We talk through email. She’s a lovely woman, the most whole woman I’ve ever met and with her success you wouldn’t expect her to be, but she is. She’s the ultimate diva. We just talk about how everything is going. She asks me what I am up to, and how my career’s going. It’s just normal, weirdly normal.” The ultimate diva? Mariah Carey is the ultimate diva, if Alexandra Burke has found such a good friend in Beyonce she’d better hope she never becomes an ultimate diva. Divas don’t have friends… they have subjects.

Destiny’s Child Lawsuit

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Beyonce better watch her back because one of her girls isn’t pleased with her daddy. News has come out that Destiny’s Child is heading to court regarding a copyright infringement lawsuit for their song ‘Cater 2 U’. This legal mess that the singers find themselves in has Kelly Rowland pointing the finger at Matthew Knowles for trying to push his daughter ahead of the pack. A source said “Matthew [Knowles] has a long history of trying to get songwriters to add Beyonce’s name to songs she didn’t compose, just so she gets publishing royalties. That information eventually became widely known, and now anyone who wants to accuse Kelly or Destiny’s Child of stealing material has ammunition to file a lawsuit. Kelly is livid.”

Beyonce’s single lady days

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

SPL64942_006

Beyonce’s single lady days have been numbered – all in the name of her career.

But the wildly popular star is preparing to take some time off and be just that – a single lady. She told a music website: “I promised myself that it’s time to smell the roses. I’m going to take – hopefully – a couple of months off. I’m not going to plan anything. I’ll perhaps take some art classes, I’ll visit some museums and I’ll check out some shows on Broadway.”

Beyonce, 28, will complete some dates in February before she takes the break. She continued: “I’d like to travel somewhere – maybe Egypt – without anyone, without any security, and focus on things I’ve always wanted to do myself.”

She revealed her sacrifices for her career that stemmed from the way she was raised. She said: “I just sacrificed life. Being able to walk down the street and being able to make mistakes and not have it recorded forever. Being able to have regular relationships and dates. Just regular, normal things that people probably don’t even think about. Sometimes it’s hard. I haven’t had longer than a couple of months off ever in my life, since I was 15. But I was raised that anything that’s worth anything takes a lot of sacrifice. And when anything is too easy for me I get scared.”

Who Miley Cyrus wants to be when she grows up

Friday, November 27th, 2009

After already witnessing to the world that she is the coolest, with no small amount of modesty one might add, it seems Miley Cyrus has finally found her role model in life. The young singer had this to say about none other than Beyonce: “I want to be like Beyonce. She is the ultimate woman. You look at her and you don’t think, I wonder what her personal life is like. You look at her and you go, That girl on the stage is a superstar. You don’t care about anything else; you only care about her music. So I would hope that would be me in the future.” What’s the point of setting such goals for herself? Miley Cyrus is already the most super-dooper-uber-pooper-mega coolest person there is. Why does she even want to lower herself to Beyonce’s level?

Prized silver tix for Beyonce released in Sydney

Friday, September 18th, 2009

SPL64942_013

Australian A-listers have succeeded in securing from Sydney publicists a rush of last-minute tickets to Beyonce.

The silver tickets – 200 in number – were released at the last minute ahead of two sold-out dates. The hottest tickets in town are known as production seats and provide seating at the very side of the stage.

Australian fans continue to draw big names and pay out large sums for acts such as Beyonce. While the country has brushed with recession, most consumers have tightened their wallets.

But fans are still prepared to pay out. This weekend more than 35,000 music lovers have forked out between $25 and $170 for a seat to see Beyonce, Wolfmother, Shihad, John Farnham and Colin Hay among others.

Daily Telegraph music critic Kathy McCabe notes: “There were positive signs early in the year that the Australian concert industry would ride out the storm when tickets to Leonard Cohen, Coldplay, The Veronicas, Fall Out Boy, Jason Mraz and Kings Of Leon gigs were snapped up as soon as they went on sale. And then there was Pink.”

Pink broke national records with the number of concerts she filled up at the likes of Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.

A Moshtix ticket agency poll of 2100 people found that almost 60 percent of punters had not foregone their live music pleasure because of the economic downturn. “Aussies will always spend money on great gigs that are priced well and held at the right venue,” said Moshtix general manager Adam McArthur.

Kanye West Steals Taylor Swift’s Spotlight

    Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

The adorable Taylor Swift won Best Female Video by beating out Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Beyonce at the MTV VMAs. It was the country singer’s first VMA but her moment was rudely taken from her. When Taylor started to give her acceptance speech, Kanye West jumped up on stage and took her mic to proclaim that Beyonce really had one of the best videos of all time. What a douche bag! The crowd then started to boo and the rapper stormed off stage and left Taylor speechless. All of that went down just a few minutes before she was set to take the stage again to perform.

Stairs good for the bottom, says Beyonce

    Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Beyonce says that she is shy and insecure about the curvy figure many admire.

The 27-year-old singer laid her shyness to not having a “normal social life” growing up.

She said: “Sometimes, I get curvy in the wrong places too much.”

Married to rapper Jay-Z, the singer revealed that she keeps her bottom in shape through stairs workouts.

She said, “After New Year, I do stairs. They are the best thing for bum cheeks!”

She added: “He was magic. He was what we all strive to be. He will always be the king of of pop. Life is not about how many breaths you take, but about how many moments in life that take your breath away.
