Allison Iraheta Bombs

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Allison Iraheta, who placed fourth in the last season of American Idol, might want to start checking out a couple of colleges and other venues of life because the music business might not be for her after all. According to reports, the singer’s debut album ‘Just Like You’ brought in piss poor numbers, only managing to sell about 25,000 to 30,000 in its first week of sales. It was totally expected but it’s a burn nonetheless. They can chalk it up to being up against heavy hitters like Lady Gaga, Susan Boyle and fellow Idol alum Adam Lambert but then again, if you can’t handle the competition, that usually means that you aren’t any.

Rihanna speaks about her latest release

Friday, November 27th, 2009

And why wouldn’t she? Rihanna’s probably exhausted any other subject there was left, why not talk about her latest album, especially since she just had her release party. This is what Rihanna had to say about her new album: “This album is an expression of all those feelings that I went through in the last eight months, just different emotions. All of it isn’t angry, all of it isn’t dark and sad, ’cause I didn’t go through that the whole time. That was part of it. It was really a roller-coaster, and you get that when you’re listening to the album.” But it’s incomplete! The record company didn’t let Rihanna put in any metal parts… how can there be any feeling to it without metal?

Shakira Gets Sabotaged

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Shakira’s new album ‘She Wolf’ has already been pushed back more than once and now her label has just announced that it will be released on November 23rd and will contain her newest Timbaland-produced single called ‘Give it Up to Me’, featuring rapper Lil Wayne. That’s such a bad move as the Latina singer will now be going up against Lady Gaga’s ‘Fame Monster’, Rihanna’s ‘Rated R’, Adam Lambert’s ‘For Your Entertainment’ and Britney Spears’ ‘The Singles Collection’. Shakira certainly won’t take the top spot up against all of that strong competition. What was her label thinking? This really smells like sabotage to me.

Brooke Hogan Soon to Release New Album

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I have already tried to block out the fact that Brooke Hogan is a reality celebrity daughter and also a so-called recording artist but it doesn’t seem to work because she just keeps going at you and reminds you of it every time. What she records may not actually make her a certified artist but it worked well enough that someone actually decided to give her another chance. On July 21, Brooke will release her 2nd album ‘The Redemption’. The press release for her album read “On ‘The Redemption’, fans will take notice as Brooke solidifies herself not only as a pop singer but as a songwriter with style. The album is a pop wonderland with up-beat, sexy dance rhythms and hip-hop influences, all overlaid with Brooke’s signature voice.” She wishes.

New Jordin Sparks Video

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Jordin Sparks has recently released the new music video for her hit song ‘Battlefield’ which is off of her sophomore effort of the same name. When asked about the album and song title, the singer replied “To me, the title ‘Battlefield’ is about strength and perseverance. Things can go from good to bad in an instant, it could be family, friendship or work; and my favorite line in the song is, ‘you better go and get your armor,’ because it’s telling you to be prepared for that time so that you can overcome it.” The American Idol alum’s album will be out on July 21st.

Christina Aguilera Talks New Sound

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Apart from signing on to do a movie, Christina Aguilera is currently working on a new album. The singer recently talked to the LA Times about the new sound she’s trying to come up with. The 28-year old said “My last album had a vintage, retro, glam appeal. And this next album which I am almost finished and am about to release has a very modern sense about it. Futuristic in terms of looking into the future and giving it a new twist and a new sensibility. I am working with a lot of electro artists to make that come alive. That is what really inspires me at the moment.”

Joss Stone Wants to Get Released

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Unlike most singers who get devastated if they get released from their record contracts, Joss Stone is actually dying to get released from hers under EMI. A friend of the singer told the media “Joss has completely lost faith in EMI. It’s all pie charts and products and there’s no creativity. She has no working relationship with them and no confidence they will support her or market her album properly. She’s actually prepared to pay £2million for her freedom – that’s how bad it is. She wants to give back this money from her advance to EMI so that she can get out of the deal. Then she’ll release the album some other way.”

Mika Talks New Album

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Mika recently had an interview in the new issue of British music magazine Q where the singer talks about his upcoming sophomore album which is due to come out this fall. Mika said “I wanted to make an unashamed pop record. I became obsessed with Disney soundtracks from the ’50s, so I decided to make my own.” Who knew that Disney could inspire one of the most revolutionary artists of today to make some great music? I can’t wait to hear what Mika has in store for us come this fall. He was always a fun one to listen to and watch.

The Gossip is Back

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

After a painfully long absence of over two years, The Gossip is back and ready to conquer the universe with their upcoming album. The band has a new single out called ‘Heavy Cross’. Lead singer Beth Ditto may be a media darling but she’s still all about the music. Her voice is raw and powerful on the single and the song is quintessential The Gossip. It has a killer bass riff, simple instrumentation, garage-sounding but has a very danceable beat. To make things simple, the song absolutely kills! The group is definitely making a statement with their return and they do not disappoint.
