Leonardo DiCaprio is huge fan of Jersey Shore

Leonardo DiCaprio admitted he is a huge fan of trashy US reality TV hit Jersey Shore.

The actor, who is promoting his new film Shutter Island, also said he doesn’t mind the media attention “crap” he gets because he “hit the lotto” with his job.

DiCaprio was asked about Jersey Shore, MTV’s breakout hit TV show about eight young, vain and hard-partying Italian-Americans spending their summer in the New Jersey Shore.

The trashy show – featuring plenty of hook-ups, fights, toned bodies and catchphrases – has become a cult hit and DiCaprio admitted that when he went to New Jersey he tried on some of their “lines” with the locals.

“They came up and said hello and I shouted out some of the lines,” said the actor, who said he records the show. “It’s a hilarious show, it really is.”

DiCaprio, who is famously private and refuses to talk about his on-off relationship with model Bar Rafaeli, was then asked about his battle with the downside of fame – the media attention.

He said: “The truth of the matter is, at the core of everything, no matter what is happening with my career, my life… I’m so happy to do what I do. Dude, I hit the lotto.

“I look at it as a gift. For some reason, I got to be able to do movies and do it professionally, that’s the thing that’s superseded any bumps or glitches or all this crap that comes along with it”

But he said he has no need to give tips to young newcomers such as Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson, who are dealing with the same problems.

“A lot of these young actors have intense amounts of attention on them from the paparazzi and the media, but the truth of the matter is I have nothing to tell them,” he said.

“They know that at the end of the day, we are all lucky to be actors and all that stuff is superficial crap that will be forgotten about.”
