Duffy is afraid of her success

The singer has apparently become afraid of her own success, or at least so she claims. This is what Duffy said about becoming a successful performer: “It’s gone, everything is gone. Which is probably a bit more frightening because before I had certain references I was compared to but now it’s just me on my own. It’s OK. You want to be recognized for who you are but the moment that happens it’s a bit scary. I don’t really know what I want any more, to be honest.” This self-doubt on Duffy’s behalf seems a bit odd. What kind of artist is Duffy that she needs to be compared to some classic in order to feel good about her performances?
