Dead Rock Star Ads Equals Getting Fired

This is one of the strangest decisions I had the “pleasure” of seeing in the past month. Footwear maker Dr. Martens released a commercial in which images of dead rock icons Kurt Cobain, Joe Strummer, Joey Ramone and Sid Vicious were wearing shoes manufactures by the company. Now Dr. Martens issued an official apology stating that they did not agree with this advertising campaign. The result was the firing of that company.
All hell broke lose when Courtney Love saw the pictures of Kurt and did not like it one bit. The official version of the story is that an employee of DR. Martens gave the ok with the campaign and the pictures were used in one location. Then the advertising company started spreading them and thus the problems began. The end result is that an individual at the advertising company was fired. He was probably the escape goat behind a public appearance move.
To sum it all up, Dr. Martens makes a mistake and the advertising company gets fired. Then as an immediate result the guy that made the campaign is fired. Tell me that is not weird!
